I was hoping that you post a link to the RAM module.

www.4allmemory.com is currently not working for my Laptop

As I said it is an Armada 1590DT it is an old laptop. You probably have a newer model that you could upgrade to 1GB-2GB

I'm not sure if my laptop has EDO RAM, or SDRAM.

EDO RAM was produced only up to 128 MB. (source: Wikipedia

I found this site and for my laptop memory is only offered to 96 MB :-(

I currently have three Armada's. I put XP on one - ran like kukua until I upped the memory. I think I put in a gig or 2. I found mine at www.4allmemory.com though this is not the only place in the world to get it. I put a new battery in the same computer. So, now I'm invested about $250.00 over the original investment. Frankly, I am disappointed when comparing the Armada to my new Acer Aspire 1. Pound for pound, the Acer is the better investment.

Yet... If you can live with W98, Second Ed. (which is really a better option for this particular computer), the Armada will travel, communicate, browse, e-mail, write notes and letters with the best of them. It is also very classy!

I have not had the machine open. I seem to recall that the processor can be changed ... but to what point? You will not get to anything current except for the cost! I also changed the keyboard on the Armada I use from time to time. I originally had 6 Armada's.

You may want to visit www.pcpitstop.com and have your Armada scanned for free. They will have suggestions for upgradability and they will recommend sources for you to consider.

I hope my experience is of come value to you as you contemplate your upgrade.

As luck would have it, I cannot find that particular computer. I do have on in my lap - Armada M700. Has 2 sticks of 256 sdram. Samsung part # M464S33323CNO ... another one has one stick of 8 X 64 Toshiba. Memory in this computer is under the keyboard. Flip the little switches on the keyboard top to remove

All of which does nothing for you ...

The document you will find here, http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/suppor...

says your computer will upgrade to 80 mb.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help than this.

Hello there michael:
This is a fairly easy computer to upgrade the memory on what you need to do is
First unplug the computer and ensure it is off.
now look at the keyboard and you will see 4 black tabs towards the top of the keyboard these are the release tabs for the keyboard get a small flattip screwdriver and insert it in the back of them and they will slide down towards the space bar to unlock. do this for eack of the tabs .
now the keyboard will be able to lift out from the top and swing back towards you
Now you can see the memory modules
M700 Laptop takes the PC100 SDRAM SODIMMs. Memory Type, and comes installed with 32 MB or 64 MB (non-removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Compaq Armada M700 Laptop to up to a maximum of 544 MB or 576 MB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 32 MB or 64 MB (non-removable) standard Memory installed. ok
Then insert the ram nad replace the keyboards and slide the tabs back in place and you are done just start up the computer and you will get a memory notification press f0 to accept and the system will start ok
Hope this helps best regards Mike

I have an old Compaq Armada 1592DMT laptop with Windows 98 and Pentium MMX. Does it have the capability to go wireless with a Netgear wireless adapter?

The short answer is yes. Just make sure you have the windows 98 drivers for the WiFi adapter you are using.

Now the long answer... well at least what you probably do not want to hear.

This baby has a maximum of 96MB of memory with a 233MHz processor (**** slow)... if you do not have the maximum memory, I would guess the performance will be painful.

Standard Memory
Maximum Memory
Memory Expansion
CPU Type
Model/Chipset
16 or 32 MB (non-removable)
80 or 96 MB
1 socket
233MHz Intel Pentium w/MMX

No you cant upgrade your processor.
also to change processor is very complicated in a old compaq.
and if you should manage to find a faster processor to your old compaq it not gonna make your laptop faster. the mother board and ram memory are still to old.
