SOURCE: while cutting a 2x4 at a 45 degree (small load)

Depends on if you hit a knot, the blade is dull, heat caused the blade to warp and cut a wider then necessary slot, etc. Get a new carbide blade with heat relief cutouts in it, so it can't warp. Then feed it slowly. Also, when you are cutting angles, it is hard to keep the line straight. But it is important to do that, or else the blade will bind. Finally, try feeding more slowly. And if you have it plugged into a GFP, don't. A saw will draw too much and a GFP will trip.

SOURCE: I was ripping some 2x4s

How freely does the motor turn without the blade on it??? Also what does that blade look like, are the teeth worn or broken? As for the motor usually there are vent holes in it and I would just try and use compressed air to clean as best asa possible. If the motor does not spin freely it could be dirt or possibly bearings. Let me know

Model 36-844 unisaw 1s turning off like it has an overload and all I'm ripping is pine 2x4

ripping timber ,(pine or hardwood) requires a very course pitch blade I suspect that you are using a fine pitch blade and the saw dust is actually binding in the cut , overloading the motor

New to table saw use, have my husbands old 10 craftsman, was learning to rip with it doing fine, then it started to bog down during cut until the blades stops, moving. put on a new blade and noticed...

If I understood correctly, you started using your husband's table saw and while ripping boards, you managed to stall out the blade AND motor?! If that's the case, you probably have a very dull blade and are binding your board on the blade. Neither is safe and it sounds like trouble is brewing.

First and foremost, get someone to show you how to safely and properly use and adjust the saw if you are new to wood working and power tools. That saw is capable of turning your lumber into a high speed missal if you do things improperly.

It also sounds like you tried installing a new 10" saw blade. Changing the blade requires 2 wrenches. One to hold the arbor and one to tighten the nut. The blade itself should rest on the arbor between two large washers. Also make sure you install the blade so the front face of the cutter teeth face you and rotate toward you. Make sure the saw is unplugged when changing the blade and never turn on your saw with a loose blade.

New SKILSAW 5995 used once to cut 1/4 inch plywood, no problem. Several months pass and I went to cut a pine board, the blade touched the wood and stopped. I recharged the batteries and tried again, two...

Did you fully charge both batteries before using them the first time? If not then they may not be able to hold a charge. It sounds to me like the batteries are either dead or defective as obviously the saw now doesn't have the juice to cut the board. If it's still under warranty take it back and get a replacement. Also, how powerful are the batteries? Even an 18V saw will struggle sometimes cutting a 2x4, they just don't have that much power. The plywood is easier to cut obviously.

While cutting a 2x4 at a 45 degree (small load) the motor quit after 12 inches. seems like i should be able to rip a 2x4

How would you rip 12 inches if your riping a 2x4 on a 45 secondly the blade of that saw and weather or not you were cutting through the grain on treated lumber. But if all that has been checked chances are one of the brushes on the motor need replacing. there are usually 2 black caps on both sides of motor that have replaceable brushes if one stops making good contact you get half power when cutting. You can check them and or replace if needed.

Weak perfomance, saw about stalls with 1/4" plywood

Most of the little 10" motorized saws are way underpowered. Take it back to Sears and get your money back. Go somewhere where they'll let you try it out first. Get a Ryobi from Home Depot. I've had one for years and it will rip a 2x4 all day long.

Model variations

Bench-Top saws can be mounted directly on a workbench or on their own stands. Their compact size makes it the perfect choice for small shops and light scroll cutting. Floor-Model saws are usually more stable and more powerful than bench top saws. The combination of increased stability and power make these saws excellent for heavy rip sawing and decorative work on thick stock.
