REINSTALLING WINDOW MIGHT HAVE OVERCOME THIS PROBLEM.

try changing the batteries if that does not work, try using the mouse near the sensor if still doent work, hit the reset button at the bottom, remove the batteries for a couple of minutes, put it back in then use your mouse on a different surface
Goo0dness, Had this myself just last week. Fortunately I had the old keyboard and mouse and plugged it in to get access. I deleted the wireless keyboard from device manager. rebooted the machine, quickly changed the mouse and keyboard back to the wireless one and it all came back on. saved me buying a new one. Hope this works for you.
There could be several other factors influencing the behaviour of your optical mouse. Have you tried cleaning the lens underneath and also used a contrasting mouse mat on your table?
The range of this mouse is very limited (3ft) and you might have some interference from other devices around (like cordless phone, wireless devices and so on)
Check the following 2 sites for more troubleshooting ideas. Also the microsoft site referenced below provides some software you can download to diagnose better.
try this: plug in the USB key & check for the green light. Then go to start, control panel, & double click mouse (with whatever mouse works). Check the hardware tab and see it the computer is recognizing that the mouse is there. If it is there, it should be working fine. If not, then perhaps you need to reinstall the USB port drivers. Sometimes this will happen when you've upgraded from 1.0 to 2.0 USB ports.
Your problem lies only in mouse. All procedures followed are correct, but take a close look at the bottom of mice where the receiver is placed when not in use, look for a tiny thin button that protrudes from one of the sides, it has to be depressed while receiver is out, it might be stuck, try to press it down gently a couple of times, it must come out. If it doesn't work, take off battery, now press down mentioned button and release it immediately upon inserting back the battery. Hope will work ok. Good luck!! Chawah.
Try to take off battery and next push and hold down the small button that protrudes where the receiver is placed in the mouse, put back battery and simultaneusly release the button,it might make the mouse operate correctly.
Good luck!!!!
Chawah.
Hope that you are wellJ Did you try and reinstall the software for the mouse?
If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
And, remember; always include the type of Operating System and the type of computer you own, when you submit your questions. It simply makes for much faster solutions.
The part that goes into the USB port is the mouse receiver. If it has a button on it, press it and then tuen your mouse over and press the button on the bottom of your mouse. This is the reset/connect button. Hope this is of some help. Bud
Try fresh battery and if one on the pack doesn't work, try another --make sure the batteries are NEW and scrape contacts in mouse with emery board a bit and blow out sand --contacts can oxidize.
I have the same mouse and I had to install the intellipoint 6.1 software that came with it, and it worked flawlessly. Then I sold a few of them that I had and mixed up the dongles in the sales and now none of them work. Trying to figure out if I can force a recognition or are they proprietary to only one mouse. Go to microsoft and see if the intellipoint 6.1 is a download.
