PT43LC14 Bulb Replacement

My red light stayed on but the TV would not come on. Manual suggested to replace the lamp. Bought the lamp and now trying to install lamp, but appears to complicated. Is there a good source for dismantling the TV so you can install the lamp, such as a service manual?

It is complicated to get the lamp housing out and replace the lamp.

anybody has replaced the lamp on this model?

  • okewillie Mar 02, 2008

The basic thing is to know where to look for the housing which is in the bottom left hand portion of the base of the TV. We took the entire real panel off before finding it in the front.

A long screw driver particularly with a magnetic tip is necessary, but its is simple. I suggest to get a diagram from any dealer if you want to fix it yourself.

Now the white light on the power button on te front of the tv is on. It blinks twice every five seconds. The fan is running, but the tv screen won't come on. Long screwdriver? maybe if you consider about 3" being long (explains why wifes upset). I have replaced the bulb only and the housing with bulb several times with this pos tv. The housing and bulb is one philips screw behind the front snap off panel (the big front piece that has the hdtv stamp in bottom right corner, just pull out it has push in plastic stubs) then remove the philips screw next to the big white warning label where there is a small half circle cutout around it in the label. then one screw on the big black piece of plastic with a fold down metal handle. Then just pull strait out, little snug but as long as you loosen the screw it should slide right out. to replace just slide in whole housing replacement and tighten the 2 screws back up. As for just replacing the bulb, I buy mine off ebay and they have all come with real ez instructions. I believe there is 2 screws holding the clip for the 2 wires coming off the housing, just take that out as the new one comes with wires. you just screw on the 2 wires to new bulb tighten down the wire clip and put it back together. The housing can be just pried open with a flat head screwdriver (think there was a couple tack welds) then after new bulbs in just bend back in as much as you can, it will clear in the tv and be fine so it doesnt need to be exact. Hope this helps and if anyone wants another one of these tv's you can have mine!

Huge thanks to whoever said the unit is replaced in the front, not the back. Ignore the instructions that come with the full replacement lamp unit. Just pull the front panel off and it takes 30 seconds to swap out!

Seems it all went fine for me. Just make sure you have a nice LONG phillips head screwdriver. Only problem I'm having is the bulb timer won't reset. Pictures working fine though

Yes there is a service manual, but it is not complicated all you have to do is reverse order, you have to attempt this so you will be able to fix this yourself, dont think it is complicated, just go for it, it is easier than you think

You need to replace the bulb or TY-LA1000 lamp assembly. This link displays all Panasonic TV Lamps and TV Bulbs. This page shows Panasonic lamp location and How to Replace TYLA1000 bulb. TY-LA1000 Bulb Replacement requires the use of a long Philips Screwdriver to reach screws within the lamp cage.

Unplug AC power before removing the lamp and re-install all doors, etc, correctly before starting the TV. Vacuum any visible dust or lint from air vents and lamp area. Do not used forced air to blow out dust, big problems may result.

The user's manual has a description of what the Blinking LED indicators mean.

Samsung 50" DLP - Lamp Light Blinking after bulb replacement

Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.

XL-2100U lamp cycles on and off

I recently had a similar problem after replacing my lamp the set would work for 22 mins then go into standby for 30 sec then come back on, then repeats, I decided to experiment with the lamp housing, I removed the new lamp, unscrewed the top of the lamp that holds the actual bulb then switched out the main housing (bottom part) with the original housing, that seemingly has corrected my problem, you may want to try if the replacement lamp did not come from Sony...good luck

Mitsubishi WD-52327 52 in. Rear Projection DLP

I have a 2 year old Mitsubishi Rear Projection 52" model WD-52525. I recently experienced the same problem as you. My TV quit without any warning and the red lamp light came on. I bought a replacement lamp just like you did, did everything you did too, but it still didn't work either. Since it's past the 1 yr warranty (of course), I took it in to an authorized service center for an estimate. They determined the light engine failed and it will cost me $816.35 to repair. I already shelled out $240+ for a lamp, $48 for the repair estimate and I said "hell" no, I'm not going to fix it for another $800+ and bought a new TV. I'm writing a letter to Mitsubishi expressing my deep dissatisfaction (to put it mildly) with this faulty product and will be requesting reimbursement, which I probably won't get. I sincerely hope this is not the same problem your TV has, but if it is be prepared for a costly fix.
