Hi , Anon !
My name is Ashlynn .
If your oven is locked , here's some ways you can unlock it :
Look for a manual lever to unlock the oven. If there is one, it will probably swing back and forth horizontally, just below the upper edge of the oven door.
Swing the locking lever, if one is present, all the way to the left. This should unlock the oven. If there is no manual lever to unlock the oven, it may be unlocked using push-button controls.
Check to see if the oven is in a self-cleaning cycle, or has just completed a self-cleaning cycle. If so, the door will unlock automatically once the oven has finished the cleaning cycle and cooled completely, which may take several hours. You cannot unlock the oven before it has cooled.
Unlock the "Clean/Off" button. Depending on the brand and model of your oven, the button may display both of these designations or just one. If your oven door is locked, but the oven is not warm and is not in a cleaning cycle, unlock it by pressing and holding the "Clean/Off" button.
But it seems you have food inside so ,
Press cancel on the cooking cycle , and let it cool to room temperature , and then try to open your oven .
Unfortunately, the high temperature limit sensor probably failed during the self-clean cycle. The oven control unit will not receive the signal that the oven is cool enough to unlock the door without the sensor.
If the oven is cool, you can try unplugging the oven for a while and then see if the oven unlocks after power is restored. Pressing the Cancel button several times (or pressing and holding Cancel, depending on the model) may also work. Sometimes, starting a new cleaning cycle and then stopping it (and waiting for the oven to cool) will work.
However if the sensor has failed, the above steps are unlikely to work. You can try to move the lock manually. On some models, you can use a bent coat hanger to slide between the oven door and the frame and push the lock over. On other units, you might open the back panel and rotate the lock mechanism cam.
The oven will not work until the high temperature sensor is replaced. Sometimes the lock mechanism fails and that is what needs to be replaced. If the oven works, then look at replacing the lock motor.
I hope this helps. If your oven is under warranty, contact GE for the repair. Please add a comment with the model of your unit for specific information on the parts you may need.
On most self-cleaning ovens after you push the clean cycle button you have to tell it how long you want it to clean. Try pushing clean then pushing 3:00 for 3 hrs. If you don't have a number pad try pushing the clean pad several times and see if it cycles through clean levels like low, med or high. Then after you tell it how long to clean hit start. If you don't have a start button the oven should start cleaning after around 5 seconds. It will lock the door and begin the clean cycle. Also remember it takes around an hour for the oven to cool and unlock after the cycle is finished. Hope that helps.
Here are some solution on how to unlock the door of your oven ans do self cleaning below.
IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com The
only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the
clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the
clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock. IF the self
clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the oven
to cool down before the lock can unlock (safety feature).hope this helps you out please rate this solution it helps get better results for our customers like you
Here are solution on how to clean up your oven below.
Remove oven racks and soak them in soapy water.
Turn on your automatic oven cleaner; this usually entails locking the door and turning the function switch to "clean."
Let the oven do its work;it will heat for several hours, charring off baked-on foods.
Remove oven racks and place them in soapy water to soak.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
Turn the oven off and spray the inside with oven cleaner.
Allow to sit for 10 minutes.
Wipe the cleaner and dirt away with a damp sponge, rinsing frequently.
you might try the following, although it is the instructions for an old model, it may be relevant;
"The actual self-cleaning process is initiated by a simple 5 step procedure:
1. Set the range clock to time of day. Note: on models not equipped with an automatic oven timer, the self-cleaning cycle is preprogrammed for a 21/2 hour cycle. Use Steps 3, 4 and 5 only.
2.Establish the length of cleaning time by: A. Setting the start time. Press and turn the start dial of the automatic oven timer clockwise to the desired starting time.
B. Set the stop time. Press and turn the stop dial of the automatic oven timer clockwise to the desired stop time. Max time is 3 hours miniumum 1/12 hours.
3. Set the oven selector dial on the control panel to "Clean"
4. Set the temperature control dial to "off". If you temperature control dial has a "Clean" position, then set the dial to "Clean" instead of "Off".
5. Remove oven racks, broiler pan and broiler grid from lower oven. Close and lock the oven door by moving the latch lever as far right as it will go - into the locked position. If the lever is accidently dislodged restore it to the locked position. Otherwise, the self-cleaning process will not take place.
Shortly after the cleaning cycle has begun, the oven temperatur reaches a degree in excess of the normal broiling temperature. The red "Clean" light will come on and the clean cycle will start. In a few minutes the door lock lever, which you have placed in the locked position, will automatically be secured to prevent the oven door from beging opened during the cleaning cycle.
This latch remains locked until the clean cycle is complete and the oven temperature reduces to normal baking and broiling temperaturs.
NOTE: Prior to self cleaning cycle operation, the oven and surface lights must be turned offed. The upper oven can be used."
Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes.
Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently
try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door. or Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15
minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try
moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door. If these
procedures fail to correct the condition, the lock must usually be accessed and
moved manually to open the door. Some model
ovens require the oven door to be manually unlatched before the controls are
returned to the OFF position or else the door may not be able to be unlocked.
Check the owner's manual for proper operating procedures.
I JUST CALLED FRIGIDAIRE AND GOT INSTRUCTIONS FOR SELF CLEANING:
1. TAKE OUT THE RACKS UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND THEM TARNISHING 2. TURN THE "SELECTOR" AND/OR "OVEN" DIALS TO THE LOCK (OR CLEAN) POSITION 3. PRESS THE "COOK TIME" BUTTON 4. SET THE CLOCK TO 2 OR 3 HOURS (I.E., "2:00" OR "3:00"), DEPENDING ON HOW DIRTY THE OVEN IS 5. PRESS "START" BUTTON 6. YOU WILL HEAR THE MOTORIZED LOCK MOVE INTO PLACE; WAIT ABOUT 30 SECONDS, THE DOOR SHOULD BE LOCKED AND CLEANING WILL BEGIN. 7. CLEANING WILL STOP AFTER THE TIME SELECTED (I.E., 2 / 3 HRS) AND THE DOOR SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK
