Food can be placed directly on the cooking racks, unless it will fall through.

How to cook with electric smoker How to cook a brisket? Do you place directly on grate or do you place in a pan

I have found that when using my electric smoker and cooking ribs or brisket I use the gadget that you can purchase that puts your food on end thereby exposing all the meat surface to smoke. The item I use I made myself but similar racks can be puchased. I would not use a pan at any time , if nothing else place directly on a rack.
Happy Smoking !

What is the rack for?

Steaming. Fill the pan to just below the rack level and put veg or food on top of rack. Switch on. If you are steaming buns or sticky food lay a sheet of greaseproof paper or cabbage leaf on the rack first to stop it sticking.

Rack to cook meat loaf

My wife takes a cookie cooling rack (with wires) that fits into a cookie sheet with sides; she then covers the cooling rack with aluminum foil and uses a fork or knife and pokes holes in the foil. She then places the meatloaf (or whatever you wish to bake or roast) on the foil covered rack and puts it in the cookie sheet. The holes allows the fat or other juices to run down to the cookie sheet and the meat loaf is not sitting the fat.

KENMORE ELITE #86013 Microwave/Convection Oven:Manual says always use Metal Rack when convection cooking. How can you cook whole chicken or roast? If you put food on top of the rack it will rub against

Yeah, that's an interesting dilema. You need to lift the food off the tray to get proper air circulation, but I've seen those racks and I understand that you don't have enough room to put a full bird in there! Is that by design, or an oversight? I don't know! And what can you do about that? Maybe you can cut off an inch off the support legs of the metal rack....

First start up

You're actually referring to the "broiler" elements. Most electric ovens have these at the top of the main oven space. (Some gas ovens are set up the same way, but many put the broiler elements in a bottom drawer.)

As their name implies, broiler elements are active only when you're broiling. They will not go on for baking.

Broiling is the process of cooking food by exposing it directly to a high heat source at close range. To broil a steak, for example, you would place the pan holding the steak on an oven rack raised to the top or next to top position in the oven (consult the manual) and set the oven to broil. The top elements will then turn on and cook the meat by direct radiation.

Most people, however, use ovens for baking far more often than for broiling. Baking is the process of cooking food (cakes, casseroles, roasts etc) by indirect heat. In other words you raise the oven to a certain temperature, put the food on a rack more in the middle of the oven, and let the surrounding heat cook it over time. When you bake the top broiler elements usually don't come on at all.

I hope this helps.

How do i use the deluxe smoker (brand name outdoor expedition). There were no instructions

Outdoor expedition deluxe smoker. Place stand (black metal with leg on each corner) on level surface. place metho cups in the holes and add metho 1/4 cup. place the large metal dish on top with the handles provided inserted into the holes on the side in such a way that they clamp the lid down when fitted. spread about a table spoon (experiment for taste) of sawdust over bottom of metal dish. It can be dampened. Put drip tray on top of sawdust. push metal rack with side arms up into metal dish. (with food on it). clip on top rack (with food). Clip on lid, light burners and cook for around 15 minutes. Bon apetit.

Is meat placed in main grill or in attached box

The "offset" box is your firebox. This is where you will put your charcoal. The meat goes in the larger chamber on the grill. This type of cooking is known as indirect cooking where the heat source is not directly under the meat. A grill cooks direct with the heat source coming from charcoal or gas burners located directly under the cook grills. Smoker can really deliver some great tasting food. Be patient and learn the ins and outs of cooking with a smoker. The most important thing is to cook low and slow. try to keep your temps in the cook chamber around 225. I hope this helps.

Cooking Time

Google "Smokering" and you will find a lot of forums dedicated to smoking food. It is an art in itself but many of these forums are helpful in learning.

The answer to your question is basically put as many racks of ribs that fit without touching and as long as the temperature is maintained they will all cook at the same time. I typically smoke my ribs at 225 for 4-5 hours.

I need instructions on how to use a toaster oven

Place the toaster oven on your desired setting, both for purpose (defrost, broil, etc.) and temperature.
  • Step 2 Plug in the toaster oven.
  • Step 3 Place your food in the toaster oven, either on a safe plate or surface, or directly on the toaster oven rack if desired.
  • Step 4 Set a timer for your food. Often modern toaster ovens have built-in timers. Even when using a timer, however, keep an eye on your food as it cooks. Toaster ovens are smaller and cook food much faster than traditional ovens.
  • Step 5 Wipe up big spills as they occur in your toaster oven, but also clean it occasionally, unplugging before doing so and waiting for it to completely cool. Clean the interior of the toaster oven with a damp soft cloth or sponge.
  • Step 6 Remove your food safely, using appropriate protection such as oven mitts or pot holders. Enjoy the tasty food you've just made.

    Concealed oven

consealed bake means that the bake element on the bottom had a metal plate above it to make it easier to clean and to allow you to use the lower racks without burning the bottom of your food. To use, you want to make sure that the oven temperature that you set has been reached before putting in your food to be cooked. You also should put the racks one notch lower than you normally would. If you do this, you should have no problems with your food cooking unevenly.
