This KLH is not an 8ohm speaker, it's a single voice coil, 4 ohm speaker, rated to 150 watts.

You gain access to the speaker by removing the amp from the back of the cabinet.

The rest of SmartHome2's advice is sound, but the driver in this case is 4ohm, not 8ohm.

It's an 8 ohm driver. It need to be VERY efficient, around 90-91db @ 1w. Measure the enclosure size LxWxH then divide by 1728. That will give you your cu. ft. internal airspace of the box. Then look for a driver that will effectively work in that space. Shouldn't be too expensive, paper cone, foam surround, 8ohm impedance. Hope this helps

you could try taking the plug to a shop that you think might do them and ask them if they have got one the same or one that would work.

You would honestly be wasting your time. Any way you try to repair it yourself without replacing the actual cone is going to add weight to the original cone, therefore not letting vibrations or anything travel so well through that area, it will sound funky. You can replace the cone though. I'm not sure what website to go to to get those. But do a google search for JL cones for sale. Here is a site that has a video on how to do it if you want to try it. But I suggest seeking a professional. It will cost more, but will be worth it.

How do i take apart the speaker to fix it?

Generally the speaker can be removed from the box by taking the Grill portion off. Some are attached with Velcro and some with plastic pins on the frame that are pushed into the box. If a speaker is set in place with glue, you can't remove it unless you rip it out completely by hand. Some have screws and these are easy to remove. The speaker wires may be short, so take care not to rip out wires with the speaker attached. When you did the speaker replacement, place the speaker Grill (Front panel) back in place and you are done.

Can you fix a rattling speaker with silicone spray

Yes You Can. But its not recommended on subwoofers or any larger speaker that moves a lot. The only way this will work is if you can see the foam rattling and its not a huge rip.

Hi,
You could use any kind of silicon (white or black color). Also you could use Rubber Cement. Just apply it evenly & make sure you don't spill anything in your subwoofer's spider.
Hope this helps your inquiry. Have a blessed weekend.

My subs sound choppy

Sounds like your sub is "clipping". Clipping is when your speaker is trying to pull more power than the power supply. (head unit, amp) If it sounds good at a low volume and choppy at high volume, supply it with more power. Bigger amp. If it sounds choppy all the time, push gently on the middle of the speaker. It should go back and forth smoothly. If it feels rough, you have blown the coil. Replacing the speaker is the fix for that.

What speaker can i use?

Joe, the simplest solution <and least expensive> is to remove the ripped speaker, google "speaker re-coning" in your area and have it re-coned by someone local. It's much less expensive then replacing it. Please rate my answer, thanks.
