My Standby button is Grayed Out when i go to turn off my computer. Also when i shut i computer is says that. 'It is now safe to turn off your computer' then which I have to manually turn it off.
I know where is a option to make it all work again but can't remember it.

Check RAM first, Then if that is good the problem is most likely the motherboard, A windows pc will boot and display without graphics specific drivers installed, but only if the motherboard is working. If the ram is good and you can give more info, Does the monitor display the BIOS post screen and booting. ( The name of the mobo and the physical drives in the machine.)
if it is windows xp right click on a blank part of the desktop go to properties go to screensaver tab then to power tab at bottom.....at the botom of power options set standby also go to hibernation tab and enable hibernation this should make them available after reboot
The stand by button is greyed out when A) your computer is too old to support the Advanced Control Power Interface (ACPI) or B) ACPI is not configured properly. Start->Control Panel->System->Hardware tab->Device Manager button. Do any of the items have a red 'X' or a yellow '!' beside them?
This issue also cause by a hard drive errors, check your hard drive for errors. In My Computer window, right click Local Disk C select Properties, go to Tools tab, click Check Now button, put check on Automatically Fix Errors and Recovery of Bad Sectors, then restart your computer to run the check disk operation.

You may want to check for BIOS updates.
I have a P4C800E from ASUS and had simular problems after a system reload.
Also, you may want to check you power settings and disable the hibernation settings.
try to restore your computer to an earlier time where standby button is working, press start menu, click all programs, click accessories, click system tools and then system restore. see if it works, if not try to repair your windows using bootable xp cd
Check out all of your power options. Also make sure that none of your keys on your keyboard are stuck or mouse buttons. If anything touches yoru keyboard or mouse, it will come out of stand by.
