Turn off the water to the shower.

Remove the handle cover (it should pop off)

Remove the center screw (usually phillips head)

Remove the retaining clip holding cartridge in - you can use a pair of long nose piers or a small screwdriver

Grab the cartridge with a pair of pliers and pull straight out. It may require a little force - there are O-rings around the cartridge to keep it from leaking.

Check the cartridge bore (the hole where the cartridge was removed)

Clean any debris or scale - lime away or CLR will work

Apply a little bit of soap around the new cartridge to help it slide in easier. Push it all the way in and make sure it is seated. Re-install the clip (you should have received a new clip with the replacement cartridge)

Turn the water back on a check for leaks

If OK, reinstall the knob screw, and cap.

No water flow from new american standard marquette showerhead

I think fitting of your shower is not proper. You have to fit it properly if you can or you can call a nearest Plumber to solve your problem.

Remove the pressure balance

I guess so as long as it does not leak. The position for your desired temperature may change.

Water will not flow through on american standard with pressure balance. Some hot water came out with low pressure then stopped and now nothing will flow.

I just spent a week wrestling with a similar problem, and I'm posting in an attempt to save someone else an ulcer. Using a Colony single-handle valve, the temperature got so we couldn't control it. Either all hot or all cold. I called A.S. and they sent a new pressure balancing cartridge and new valve cartridge. Replaced both and then there was no water at all coming out of the shower head. Tried every possible combination of old and new parts, flushed pipes, etc. Finally took the shower head off and found it completely clogged with debris. It was a mix of sediment and the white grease that was in the new cartridges, which must have been displaced when I started messing with it. And it clogged it all at once (no flow problems before all of this). Works fine now!

Low water pressure

Remove the spray head and point the hose into the sink drain. Turn the faucet on. If you have good pressure, cal American Standard for a free replacement spray head.
If you still have low water pressure without the spray head, ask them for a new faucet cartridge.
After replacing the faucet cartridge, if you still have low water pressure you will need to ask for a new faucet, possibly free if yours is still under warranty.

NEW American Standard shower installed... leaks from shower head.

They do not all leak. The problem may be that your faucet is simply wearing out and is due to be replaced in total. Try putting some plumbers grease on the cartridge and the chamber.....not too much..........that may do the trick for u.

Leaking shower faucet

You may want to disassymble the faucet again and check for any debris that could have gotten into the faucet when you were changing the cartridge. Also remove the seats at the back of the housing and reexamine for bad seals. Sometimes it takes a second install for it to stop. Something isn't seating properly plus, it could be a bad new cartridge.

Single knob for shower and tub wont stop running

You may have debris caught in the cartridge. I'm not sure which faucet you have but if it utilizes a ball, there is a retaining ring that is either grey or white that you have to tighten. If not, I would recommend contacting American Standard. You might have a bad cartridge or missed replacing another part. Sometimes they have small round washers at the back of the housing that need to be replaced as well.

Plumber reversed the hot and cold lines during installation

Yes it can but I believe only the Pressure Balance Unit needs reversed.

1) Turn off water supply to unit
2) Remove handle/trim if installed
3) Remove cartridge by removing 3 screws holding cartridge
4) Remove retainer ring holding in P.B.U. in valve body by removing 3 screws
5) Remove Pressure Balance Unit, rotate 180ﹾ and reinsert
6) Reassemble in reverse order
