Tip

CPU Fan Speed high

What Could be happening inside when you hear the cpu fan running at a high speed always ?

Ever thought about it ? Ok let me give you a clue on this. To understand this issue you need to understand how the hardware works on various situations.

Check the Heat settings in bios and look for the variance.

Bios can instruct a CPU fan to run faster only when there are critical lssues of heating.

The CPU starts running on a realtime 16bit more known as SMM mode.

This is a feature which is inbuilt to support the continuous performance of the Processor even while temperature level rises.

The instruction is moved through the Bios, and can be a bios related issue.

Worst case, Flash the Bios once for all and the issue will be solved.

If its a very old system flashing the bios could be also a problem, still you can seek the help of a Hardware Engineer to get this accomplished.

Processor thermal treat error while booting

Make sure that cpu fans are running normally. Go to BIOS (generally with F2 on intel motherboards), and there will be information about cpu temperature, also fan speed (in RPM). If fan speed is 0 or very low problem is in cpu fan. (connection problem might be). If cpu fan speed is normal (high value) and cpu temperature is high, I will suggest you to open your PC case (or notebook) and see whether cpu fan is dirty or not. This is very common problem. If so, clean it.

Why is my dell optiplex GX260 CPU fan is very fast ?

Usually the fan regulates its own speed (or rather the BIOS does) in relation to the current heat, you may have heat/environmental issues, or power issues. However I would first check to see that the fan speed isn't statically(permanently) set to a high speed. You can check this in the BIOS, as the machine starts up it will flash a small message ( For Setup or For Setup, something like that), hit the stated button to enter your BIOS, under 'Thermal' or 'Hardware' you should be able to find fan speed.

Cpu fan running at high rpms

Are you sure there is enough thermal jel between the new cpu and the fan? If not, fan could not get enough heat and constantly tries harder. That thermal jel creates a better environment for the heat conduction so that fan could do less job and take out more heat at the same time. Hope this will help.
