Question about Coleman Heating & Cooling

When I light my Coleman Catalytic Heater, it burns

When I light my Coleman Catalytic Heater, (Coleman liquid fuel type) it burns the fuel off the head, and then goes out. It has fresh fuel in the tank. Will not keep burning with wick control in light position, or any position for the matter. Wick control lever does move wick up and down. (Noted while disassembled to see if I could figure out why heater does not continue burning once it is lit.)

The wick isnt drawing up any fuel? Does this heater have a primer?

Could the wick be sitting above the fuel inside the tank?

You might just try changing wicks and restarting.

My coleman 5033-700 does not have a ignite button, so how do i light it?

Turn the knob to the light position, light the heater with one of those long bic lighters or a match, turn the knob back to the run position. Takes a little while for the catalytic mat to fully light up.

I cant get any petrol to pump into the mantles

If the petrol doesn't come through first check that you have enough in the tank. If the tank is not full enough it won't come through. If it still fails to come through it's likely that the generator is blocked. This is the tube which the mantle sits on and it has a very narrow opening to force the petrol to convert to vapour when it's warm. Try heating it for a while and it may clear it. Otherwise you'll need to buy a new generator.

Note: while the dual fuel lanterns can burn petrol you should be aware that it gives off poisonous fumes, like cars did before they had catalytic converters. The lantern should not be used indoors with petrol. They are safe with coleman fuel. If you live in the USA, Coleman fuel is cheap but if you're in Europe it's much too expensive. Rather than buying a new generator, if you live in Europe, you could buy a parafin burning lantern like the Petromax 500 available from http://www.pelam.de/index.php?cPath=28_31&language=en&gclid=CIOe46DQnqYCFQkf4QodQxz2Zg
and other sites, or you can pick up second hand Optimus lanterns on Ebay. Both burn parafin, though they need to be primed, and provide at least as much light as the Coleman.

How do you light a Coleman catalytic heater

This is "My way" I have gotten them to run in emergency type situation, if the electric element wont get it hot enough, I use a small pencil torch or turbo torch and briefly heat an area the size of a siver dollar or lesss maybe quarter if small, geherally in center if round or low to mid if wall maunted and square, this sis not protocol and shouldnt be done indoors with everything shut! at your risk!!! I cannot say do that , I do it, but it will flash a bit and roll out a bit but its ok once going they go all night in my experience, 1/2 wil burn offf the dust etc that held em back some ned new platinum pad.

How to operate a coleman two burner stove using liquid fuel

If you are talking about the old type that runs on Coleman fuel, start by putting some oil in the hole beside the pump knob to make sure that the gasket is lubricated. Fill with fuel and pump it up, keeping your thumb over the hole in the end of the pump knob. When you have pumped up enough pressure, turn on and light the main burner, then secondary burner if necessary.

Thermocoupling burns out every 7-10 days?

If your thermocouple is literally burning out, then have the pilot assembly checked and clean, check the orifice and the gas pressure to the pilot. Make sure the orifice size is correct for what type of fuel you are using (liquid propane or natural gas). Worst case you could have a gas valve or regulator going bad. Please have this done by a qualified service technician. I hope this helps.
