Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook

1 Answer

RAM Problem As you may know, the HP Pavilion zd8000 comes with 2gb of RAM, but recently my PC wouldn't boot up (gives two or three beeps) with both 1gb RAM cards install. I can put either one of the RAM cards in either slot and the system will boot but not both of them. What could be the problem?

Your ram strips need reseating. Pop them out and then refit firmly. If this is not enough, one of them is faulty.

Hp pavillion dv6000 wont boot, switching on all the lights and giving 3 beeps, what do i do

Three beeps ususal indicates a memory error.

If you have 2 ram modules in your system, remove one and try to start up. If this fails, replace the single stick with the other. If neither of them work and you still get the 3 beeps, it may be the motherboard that is damaged.

Just added two 2gb of ram to my zd8000

Well If its windows xp 32bit OS then it only reads 2.5. I run xp x32 bit with 4 gb ram and i only list 2.7gb ram. Its nothing to worry about. Your system is actually using all of you ram even though windows isn't posting all of it.

HP pavilion zd8000 start-up problem.

Try to unplug all the PCI cards and boot, if its still doing it check the ram. If its still doing it check to see if the power supply is good. If all that fails, It could be eather a bad mother board or bad processor.

I have a HP Pavillion DV 2000 laptop with me. When i boot my system it gives 1 long beep followed by two short beeps and the system doesnt boot. I am not sure as what to do. Can someone help me here?

This website:
http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml

Lists standard beep codes for computers. The one long, followed by two short beeps indicates a display problem according to the site.

I have heard other people say that the same beep codes specify a RAM problem.

Have you recently installed any new RAM or a new graphics card, or made changes to either.

It seems likely to be the graphics card because of the missing info on the screen. Usually when RAM is bad there is something on the screen.

HP ZD8000 won't come on

Try to change the RAM and see if that helps the beeping. Normally, repeating beeps mean bad RAM. Not sure what the problem is with the disk drive, seems to be a mechanical problem. Thanks, Lolita
