try these:-

  • connect it to pc and on it
  • vaccum the barrel of lens
  • changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
  • shake it.
  • on and off in different positions
  • hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)

I try to turn of my camera but my zooming in thing doesnt go in and if you want to take pictures it says zoom error also when you try to turn it of the lenses that cover the camera doesnt cover.

Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error (zoom errors on Fuji's) problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

The lens of canon a520 camera doesnt retract. My son has hardpressed it and it doesnt zoom in or zoom out.

Hi.

Are you receiving an error on the LCD screen such as "Lens Error" ? If so, this camera is defective and needs to be returned to Canon or an authorized dealer for repair.

If you are not receiving any error messages, does the camera have power (turn on and off) and still not zoom? If this is the case it would also be very unusual without an error message. Either way, you are still looking at a repair for this product.

Typically, a Powershot camera of this age would cost over $100.00 to repair at most facilities. You would be better off purchasing a brand new camera (with more megapixels and features) for around the same price as a repair.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. We have message = zoom error

1st replace it with new batteries. if the zoom lens is coming out and going in after putting on and off.if not then dust is the problem. while putting it on try to pull the lens slightly or if it out then try to press in slightly if doesnt work then replace lens unit

Hi, my zoom is stuck out and won't retract.

Your lens motor is most likely burnt out. The only way to continue taking pictures is push the lens in manually, You may have problems with the focus after doing this, so just turn the lens manually until you are zoomed in properly. If you have a warranty now is the time to use it.

Looks like the lens is "out of alignment". Canon charges heftily for this repair. However if the lens is not broken then many people have got it working through systematic bashing. Click here to view the thread

Casio wont take pictures

That lens error msg means that you need to send it in. There is no resetting that you can do to fix that. Call the repairs center at 800-706-2534 and then keep choosing option 1. Tell them what's going on and that you would like to send it in for repairs. If they ask just lie and tell them you already talked to tech support. LOL
