Send it back they will ask you if it has a warranty and if you dont then tell them that this is a known mistake by microsoft and you want them to fix it my mom called for me cuz i didnt want to go threw the oddimated ******** so she did and they fixed it with no problems after it was shipped this takes about 3-4 weeks to get it fix but accually they send you a new one so no loses just the phone bill cuz they paid for shipping and handling and gave me a free month of xbox live so just do as i said and then if you have any problems again throw it away and get a ps3(**** microsofts ****)

have you tried calling microsoft cuz my mom flipped out on the service lady and they paid for everything and they even gave me a three year warranty and they would have to take it to find out that you have taken it apart so or even try lieing your way out of itlike saying you bought it used like referbished and say it didnt come with a seal but if they dont mention anything about that then dont worry but just keep trying

My x box 360 keep saying open tray every time I put a game disc in.what can i do?

Pop off the faceplate look inside the hole on the lower right side
of the cd rom drive if you see a yellow and white wire is a Dg-16d2s Philips
they cost around 35-40.00 new on ebay . If it's two white wires it's a BenQ VAD6038 6038.
Same price. Order it from ebay goto youtube and type" Xbox 360 drive replacement "

When your drive arrives remove the P.C. board from the old drive and plug/solder it
in the new one and it's fix . This is a sure fire-way to get your drive working.

option 2 . is to buy a laser for a ben-Q drive 20.00 and simply swap it out
but this work about 60% of the time since the spindle motor and worm gear motor
will some time be the cause .

If you have any questions please ask before you rate this tip.

Thanks

When I put my xbox360 games in, my console says Open Tray, then it wont read the games. It will say Reading for a second, but then it says open tray

Your drive has gone bad. Either the laser or the drive motor that moves the laser had burned out. You can either send it to Microsoft who will charge $100 to fix it or contact someone local who can either repair the drive or replace it. If you replace it you must buy the same drive type (lite-on, benq, samsung, or hitachi) and have the firmware from the old drive flashed to the new drive. Also if you happen to have a modded xbox 360 with old firmware the new ap2.5 checks also cause you and open tray error and a flag for ban.

Wont read games only reads dvds

This is going to be a bit long -- but very detailed, so please read it carefully. There are several reasons that an xbox 360 system will have problem reading discs. The error messages also vary from unreadable disk, no message at all but the game skips, "please insert disc in a 360 console" to "open tray." There are a few reasons this may happen:

1.Bad disc. Check the back of your disc for scratches. If it looks good (or plays fine in another console), then the disc is probably fine. Also-- try more than 1 game to be sure.

2. Bad laser. The XBox 360 has a DVD drive very similar to a PC's DVD drive inside. The drive contains a bunch of parts including a few motors and gears and a laser. The laser is the part that actually reads the disc. The reality is...with all the hours and hours of game play, lasers do eventually wear out. The laser isn't very easy to replace, but it is replaceable. You can find any and all XBox 360 lasers at the following website:

http://store.richspsxparts.com/xb360ac.html

3.Bad DVD Drive. Sometimes other components inside of the DVD drive can become bad such as the motor that spins the disk, the motors that open the tray, etc, etc. You can get a new DVD drive to just replace everything, including the laser, in one shot but there is a catch. The XBOX 360's DVD drive is tied to the motherboard using a software lock. The easiest way to overcome this lock is to buy the exact same manufacture DVD drive that is in your system now, remove the circuit board from the old DVD drive (which contains the software key) and transfer the circuit board into the new DVD drive that you purchase. If you do this simple procedure, there is no flashing involved. The following website carries DVD drives and also provides instructions on swapping the circuit board from the old drive into the new one.
