Question about Whirlpool GH6177XPS Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Whirlpool microwave model GH6177xps-3.\r\n

Whirlpool microwave model GH6177xps-3.
I came up under the microwave door, hit my head and knocked the door off the hinge. I put the door back on the hinge, put the pin into the hole (to hold it on) and then started to use it. When I opened the door again, the pin came out and door fell off again.

Fixya told me to replace the hinge (part #6 on diagram) so ordered it but it is not the part that is broken.

The part that appears to be broken is inside the door. The pin just won't stay pushed into the broken part.

I need to get it fixed correctly this time.

The part that holds the pin in place (inside the door) appears to be the part broken. I need to take the door apart in order to take a picture of the broken piece. Can you tell me how to do this?

    Thanks

Ok. We pried the door panel off and found the problem. A small clip that holds the pin in place was bent. It came loose and we straightened it out. Now I don't know how to get the clip back to the proper place. Any fix for this or do I need to buy a new door?

Alright since (part #6) isn't a perfect part number, I would believe that you were shipped two metal brackets but most likely a non-metal part broke if anything. If you can take a picture of the part that is broken, then I can tell you what part to order otherwise if you can pick out the part from the following diagram, then you can do it on your own from the following website.

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5137483&diagram_id=955883#d955883

You can send a picture to my email at bestdarntootingood@yahoo.com and I will post back what part here.

Let me know how this works out for you.

The door comes part quite easily, check out the video below, you just need a flat knife edge or screwdriver to pry off the inner piece to start with.

If that's all that is wrong, just take it to a repair shop that sells appliances and they should be able to easily fix it for you without having to buy anything else.

Microwave does not shut off when door is opened.

It may be a bad door switch or mount, or maybe a relay on the control board is sticking.

First, see our safety info here.

Then we have a helpful file on diagnosing and replacing door switches here.

If that's not the issue, we regularly repair control circuit boards for $39.95, or you can order a new one (part number 8205237) for $203.08 here.

My whirlpool microwave will not heat. Model no gh6177xps-4. was working last night.

Did you search this site for this problem? I have posted a answer to this site several times.

My response is please check the door safety interlock switches. These switches fail because we (count me in the number) open the door while the oven is running. Eventually, they arc enough and fail. When they fail, the oven doesn't know the door is shut and will not turn on the magnatron. Forget what you know about the door. The oven needs to know.

F7 ERROR CODE ON GH6177XPS

This is a known problem with this unit, and whirlpool has put out a Service Flash out on this. The reason this is happening is Electrical circuit interruption between the L1 and Neutral in the microwave invert circuit. This has to be addressed by a Tech.

Your generator may be putting out a square wave instead of a true sinusoidal (sine) wave.

There is usually a circuit in the microwave which monitors the AC line for timing purposes, and a square wave may not be interpreted correctly.

I would consult the manual or contact the manufacturer or installer.

jm...I'm guessing you are not able to see the numbers in the timer portion but that it will accept keyboard commands. This sounds like the main board is going and the drivers are not working or it might just be that the display is bad...generally these are replaced as a unit.
