I had a similar problem - had to get a technician out - there was a valve at the back of the machine that allows the machine to fill. It had split (apparently its a common problem? there are separate valves for hot and cold water, so I'm not sure if using a different cycle choice (ie cold only), may let the machine fill?). 10 minute fix job
If it doesn't fill it won't start any other cycle unless you move it ahead yourself. If it hums I am thinking it is trying to fill. Sounds like the valve is turning on to let water in but it is not getting through. My washer has a screen where the hoses go on and sometimes the screen becomes plugging with scale. If that is ok then the solenoid must be coming on but the valve is stuck. Does neither hot or cold settings work? Please rate my answer so I am rewarded points for it.
hi, Does the water drain out in the spin cycle? Sounds like the coupler might be bad. Is this a top load machine? Asking questions so I can be clear and give you better info on your question. Please let me know.
heck your lid switch make sure it isnt broke and if it isnt you will need to replace the motor and pump coupler it comes with three pieces 2 nylon busshing and a rubber gromet that connects the 2 nylon pieces together very in expensive (usually under 20 bucks) you can easily purchase one at your local dealer or anywhere on line. Glad to be of service
Your machine has multiple issues. First, the obvious: are the water lines turned on? When you try to fill it with water, can you hear the water valve humming? Try different temperatures, too. If it lets one temp in, but not the other, you need a water valve. If it doesn't hum at all, you could have a problem with the pressure switch or the timer.
The motor humming is the issue that worries me. Try removing the belt from the motor pulley. If the motor turns now, it's a transmission problem. If it won't agitate (you'll have to satisfy the pressure switch first) or spin at all, your transmission could be locked up. I've had limited success by pulling on the belt (hard) in both directions. This has only worked once to unjam the transmission.
Wow it sure sounded like the water was turned off. There should be no problem getting a tech out soon to see whats going on why it wont bring the water in. It sounds like maybe the door lock isnt working?? Is the strike broken on the door?? I take it it wont spin on its spin only cycle??just return it to place of purchase.
