Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5100 All-In-One Printer

When requesting print from my wordpad, I get the response "printer not detected" Going into the maintenance program it says "congratulations the printer is fixed " but still not printing. This is a kodak easyshare 5100 all in one printer Thanks Dave

OK, first and most simple thing to try; fire up your PC in to Windows and turn on the printer. Unplug the USB cable from the back of the PC and plug it in to ANOTHER USB port. It should re-detect the printer. Once this has finished (you should get a message in the bottom right of the screen down by the clock), try a print and see what happens. Scott.

Cleaning print head


Read the Manual.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HP Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Look for Manuals on the site about the printer.



You can also go into the control panel and open the Printer, then Right Click on your printer and select Properties. Go thru them looking for Maintenance so you can clean the print heads.



There might be a Printer folder in your program list. Click Start/Programs or Start/All Programs and look for the HP or HP Printer Folders. Open them to see if there is a Maintenance folder to clean the print head.

When printing, sentences over lap so the document is unreadable. Also it may only print the first line of a document.


Hi,

I've seen word documents do this sometimes and fixing it has worked differently each time.

1) Open the document and press CTRL + A (select all) on the keyboard and then CTRL + C (copy), then start a new document and press CTRL + V (paste). Save the new document as something different and try printing again.

2) Open the document again and select all and copy again,but this time open wordpad (a different program to Microsoft Word) by going to Start > Programs > Accessories > Wordpad, and paste the text into wordpad. This may change some of the formatting. Now, select all again, and copy, and start a new word document and paste.

Copying the text out of word and back in seems to work more often. Sometimes the best program to copy out to is notepad, but you lose pretty much all of the formatting when you copy back into word.

3) If this doesn't work, you could try to update your printer drivers, and if that doesn't work, as a last resort, you can delete the printer and create it again via the Control Panel > Printers.

Printer is only printing part of requested document onto A4 paper


set the paper ( a4, portrait, corresponding tray etc) from printer setup, and, after , check ( clean and reintiliase the printers cartridge and printing heads ( from the printer maintenance software)

It sounds very much like your print heads are blocked. If you have not tried already then run your maintenance program or right click on your printer item in the control panel and select the properties option. Then select maintenance.

Quicken will not print. Program aborts after error message: Problems communicating to printer: "Dell Photo Printer 944" The specified resource name cannot be found in the image file.


Hi,

Ensure that your printer is online and all cables are securely attached.

(i) If your printer is on a network, ensure that your network allows you permission to access the printer.

(ii) If you are printing to paper, ensure that the Quicken PDF Printer is not selected.
(iii) If you have more than one printer:

(iv) Ensure that you have selected the correct printer in Quicken. (Select the QuickenFile menu, select Printer Setup, and select the item you want to print. Be sure the correct printer shown in the Printer field. For example, if you are printing a report, select File > Printer Setup > For Reports/Graphs.)

(v)Try making another printer the default printer.
Microsoft Windows Vista:
Click the Microsoft Windows Vista logo (Start button) and select Control Panel.
Under Hardware and Sound, click Printer.

Select the printer and click the Set as default command button.

Microsoft Windows XP:

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Printers and Faxes.

Right-click a printer and select Set as Default Printer.

(vi) Try printing from WordPad or Notepad to be sure Windows is communicating with your printer.

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button, select All Programs or Programs, select Accessories and select WordPad or Notepad.
Enter some text. Select the File menu and select Print.

(vii) If your file does print from WordPad or Notepad, try reinstalling the printer or printer driver.
(viii) If your file does not print from WordPad or Notepad, it probably means that Windows is not communicating with the printer. Check your Windows printer settings.

You should try going into the properties and running the head cleaning that will fix ya right up

below 55dBmv TX is a lot better. Could be a bad service line. Also if you call the cable company and have them come out again. Have them put their DSAM meters on the house lines as well as the service tap and have them check for upstream ingress. a lot of things can cause this. It could be a loose fitting somewhere in the house. A t.v.'s shielding may be going out causing unwanted frequencies bleeding in and creating all kinds of noise on the upstream spectrum going back to the node. It could even be a neighbor causing this with their own equipment. If that's the case their maintenance techs should be able to find that.

Sounds like maybe you do not have the Lexmark as your default printer.

Try choosing Print from the File Menu. Then you should see a list of printers and select the Lexmark.

If that doesn't work, try printing from another application like WordPad to make sure the printer can print at all.

If you still can't print, make sure the printer is online. Click on  Printers and Faxes in the Start Menu or the Control Panel. Then double click on the Lexmark printer icon. Make sure it doesn't say "Use Printer Offline" or "Paused" or anything like that in the title of the window that comes up. If it does use the Printer menu to change it.
