You can go a little cheaper by buying from a webstie like newegg.com or ebay.com.

Ebay.com you can buy new ones, refurbished ones, or used ones. Its your choice. Just read and make sure what your buying is what you really want b4 you bid on it.

newegg are all brand new things i get a lot of my stuff for my computers from that website. But its way cheaper then going to the store.

good luck

Asus p5gc mx sata drive very slow integrated with ide dvd drive, also odd drive letters

You can try checking device manager drivers in safe mode or under view > hidden devices. This will show extra devices and errors. The odd drive letters don't matter at all. You can always change in Disk Management, but be aware of anything pointing to particular drive letters.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Can i use PATA hdd for this motherboard?

You could connect a PATA HDD to this using the IDE connector, which then means that you would need to either slave your optical drive on the same channel, or obtain a sata optical drive.
The other ( not recommended) solution is to buy an IDE / SATA converter and run the hard drive from a SATA port. I've never had any sucess with these adaptors

I need to hook up a CD drive to my computer. I have a P5GC MX/133 mother board, two 256 gig hard drives and 3 1/2 disk drive. I would preferr not to diconnect any of the ubove

Well you could get an external CD/DVD drive. You didn't say how the existing drives are connected - but it seems like, according to specs, that you can take

4 - SATA - Serial ATA devices
2 - ATA (aka IDE) devices (one connector jack. Drives would be Master and Slave, or more likely CSEL or Cable Select. So if you jumper the drives CSEL they should just work.)

SATA is the better drive interface technology these days, so I'd go for an internal SATA CD Drive ... assuming you have a CD bay. Not knowing how / who built your computer I have no way of knowing how many spare Power Cables and SATA cables, etc. that you have available. But usually with a new drive purchase they give you cables.

If they don't give them, and you need them, you can get power cable adaptors as well that will change a white standard power plug/cable inside the computer to an SATA type power plug. Often there will be spare SATA power cables in there anyway since the motherboard come with 4 SATA connections on the motherboard.

K8V-MX motherboard+HDD size limit

yes the mother board supports SATA However if you connect large Disks to the SATA connectors they are recognized correctly with full size. So leave your 500g and less HDs on the IDE and the big ones on the SATA. you can check this link for the manual for more information ftp://ftp.chiligreen.com/Desktop/Manuals/manual_a_k8v-mx.pdf hope this helps .thanks and Godbless pls appreciate by rating as fixyaa
