Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
We are seeing light/dark blue vertical lines on the screen when we power up. The picture would usually be fine after warming up for a half-hour but now it is several hours and it still hasnt got a picture. Audio is fine.
Thought would post this reposnse.
Sony will pay for this completely.You do not have to pay a penny .
I have the same issue and called Sony. Here is the website of Sony.I called them and they gave me ref. and some contact no.s of authorized service dealers to call.
Its easy and is a big relief that Sony knows this problem and will cover for all expenses.
any customer who later experiences this issue on one of the affected models, Sony will cover the cost of the optical block repair (parts and labor) at no charge through December 31, 2008. All other terms of the Sony limited warranty continue to apply. Sony utilizes a network of hundreds of qualified independent third-party servicers to perform in-home television warranty service. Sony, through its authorized servicer network, will endeavor to repair your set within 30 days of your first contact. For diagnosis, warranty service, or if you are not provided a repair within 30 days, please contact Sony at (888) 649-7669.

Uh Oh! Your light engine has warped a little from overheating and
is distorting the picture. Make sure the filters on the cooling fans

My suggestion to you is to get on the phone with Sony and start complaining, then keep complaining until they agree to pay for it. You may have to get the problem diagnosed by a pro before they agree to pay for it though.
