Your printer is near to the end of service is a problem that most users encounter. It's a protection of the printer to get leaked or over flow since you printer has a small piece of waste ink pad inside the printer that collects and absorbed wastes ink.

To make it easier to explain but not exactly, your printer has a page counter that allows you to print the maximum page. If it reached that page yield the printer get the message printer is in the end of service. If you reached this problem, you can dowload a free resetter for Epson at http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml.

If you do not know how to use the resetter, you can send me an email together with you printer model to give you the instructions. Hope this helps

The waste pads in your printer need to be replaced.
Its like changing your brake pads in your car after 50-60,000 miles.

They need to be changed because they are fully saturated with ink.

The approximate repair cost is $60- $85 for repair.

Its an R230and it says: Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your printer documentation.

parts inside your printer indicates that you need to change the ink pad of your printer. for every epson printer they have a cycle of i think around 100,000 revolutions in the gears and then when it reaches its peak it automatically shuts down on the firmware thus indicating parts inside your printer is at the end of its service life... but it can be resetted back to its state by downloading the Ink Pad Reset counter.

you can download the INK PAD RESET COUNTER through this link http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml..... install it then i suggest using the icon which will appear on the lower right hand side.

it represents a small printer. the link will instruct you on how to use it... have fun.

if it does not work then another mechanical issue might have occurred....

Q: What should I do if my printer driver displays the message parts inside my printer are reaching their end of service life?

A: See the Epson Ink Pad Reset Utility page.

Epson Ink Pads Reset Utility

If your product is displaying an end of life service message, please view and complete the required information below to proceed.

Please explain the message I am getting in my printer driver that says parts inside my printer are reaching their end of service life.

Like so many other products, all Epson consumer ink jet products have a finite life span due to component wear during normal use. At some point, the product will reach a condition where either satisfactory print quality cannot be maintained or components have reached the end of their usable life. This is the normal product life cycle for highly mechanical devices like printers. This message is a warning that certain parts have reached the end of their usable life and that your printer will no longer work until it is serviced.

What parts are we talking about?

The message refers to the ink pads, which are actually a number of porous pads in the printer that collect, distribute, and very importantly contain the ink that is not used on printed pages. Ink is collected by these pads during the initial setup of the product, during cleaning cycles and when printing borderless photographs. Most users will not receive this message before the printer is replaced for other reasons. Some high volume users or those who use the printer for many years may receive this message about ink pads before other components reach the end of their usable life.

Why does my printer stop functioning when I get the message?

Epson is committed to ensuring the proper operation of all our devices to minimize the risks of property damage or personal injury during the lifespan of the product. The printers are designed to stop operating at the point where further use without replacing the ink pads could create risks of property damage from ink spills or safety issues related to excess ink contacting an electrical component.

Is there anything I can do to continue using my printer?

Epson recommends replacing the printer, but if you want to continue using it, Epson recommends having the printer serviced at an Epson Customer Care Center. You may also be able to have the ink pads replaced by an independent service provider and use the Ink Pad Reset Utility to reset the Ink Pad Counter to continue using the printer. Please note that replacement of ink pads is relatively expensive and may not be a good investment for lower cost printers because the printers' other components also may be near the end of usable life. Epson does not recommend ink pad replacement by users without technical training or resetting the Ink Pad Counter without replacing the ink pads.

Note: This utility is for Windows XP and Vista operating systems only. We hope to develop an option for Mac users as well; however, we do not have an ETA or the OS requirement at this time.

Reset the waste ink counter!
Assuming you have completed your modification you can reset your printers waste counter using this method (I did this and it worked on the CX6400) can't guarantee it works on all)
1. You will see big button on your printer like power on (this is on the left
2. side), black & white photocopy, color photocopy, and then the stop button (these are on the right side).
3. first turn off your printer
4. push the b/w + color + stop buttons together and hold
5. push the power on button and hold (so you'll now be holding down 4 buttons together)
6. Don't release all the buttons until you see the light indicator is blinking and then a message display on the lcd
7. release all the buttons
8. push the color button (once)
9. turn off the printer
10. turn it on again
After this one may need to reload the printer driver and locate the printer!

Epson r265 needs service

If the error says, parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life, the ink pad on your printer needs to be replaced. Then log on to epson.com/ipr to get the ink pad reset utility software. The software runs on win xp and win vista.
