Question about Dell Inspiron 1720 Notebook
First, remove any external devices connected (Ex. USB devices if connected) try to check if it restarts. Then try running the Diagnostic test:
1. Turn on computer
2. Continuously tap F12 (until it goes to boot menu)
3. Select Diagnostics
4. Finish the test
If all test passed no problems found it means it is a software problem, else it will generate an error code. Tell me the error code and we will determine which hardware is faulty.
