It's either the wrong type of RAM or the motherboard will not recognise 4Gb. If you're sure the memory type is correct then try and put 3Gb in and see if it boots. Failing that, check the manual and see how much memory is supported.

I put 4 GB of ram but my computer will not recognize it, the cursor will only blink and the screen is black, can you help

Each motherboard is capable of taking certain RAM. Your motherboard is capable of taking two GB of RAM and you are giving it four. Will not do. Please remove the other two and see your laptop gallop. Never exceed the limits of hardware as it will only harm the other HW.

Windows won't see all of my 4GB of RAM but BIOS does! Why?

Windows xp will usually only see 3.5 gbs of ram even in your motherboard can support more. WIndowns vista does recognize more RAM or i also believe windows xp 64bit recognizes more ram. Nothing wrong with ram or your computer its just your operating system.

Medion ram upgrade

I'm not a guru, but your predicament is pretty simple.
Depending on your OS (XP 32 bit, XP 64 bit, Vista), the OS will be able to recognize a certain amount of RAM. XP 64 Bit will be able to recognize up to 6GB of RAM. Vista, I have no Idea. 32 Bit, what you're seeing right now.

Sorry for wasting a bit of money on that last stick.

Does your computer support that much ram? Most computers only support 2 GB ram. Check with the manufacturer for info.

You can download the drivers directly from Acer.

Just choose "drivers and downloads"
Then "notebook"
Then "Aspire 9300"

On the right window, you will see available drivers. Once you highlight each one, you will see what operating system it is for in the "download details" window.
