If it won't play online what you'll need to do is set a static ip in your router for your ps3 and then open ports TCP Ports: 80, 443, 5223, and 10070 - 10080 UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658, and 10070 (you'll need to contact your router about that)
If it won't play AT ALL follow these steps ( http://us.playstation.com/support/answer/index.htm?a_id=1488 ) to get into safe mode and select option 3.
If NONE of your PS3 games work and NONE of your blu rays work, your blu ray drive is fried and you'll need to get it fixed. You can go to: us.playstation.com/getservice to get it fixed.
I have been doing a fair amount of research about this issue. I have found that the majority of this code is with COD Black OPS. As you probably already noticed while playing online if you even got that far was a real choppy game online in the multiple player mode. The game sold and really is Overloading the system they have sat up for the game. Lag, Non booting, and not getting into matches. I am inserting a Web address with discussion. There are a few steps people have done and it worked, and some have tried it and it didnt work. I am passing this along to you for you to make the decission.. http://www.ps3blog.co.za/2008/04/10/ps3-error-80010514-explained/ I hope this helps you out, or at least understand what is going on..
1)is your ps3 overheating?
2) is anyone else using the network your conected to?
3) are all your network cables conected and un-frayed,cut,pinched
4)dose your router go into a colisian state when you get the black screen?
5) dose it only happen in this online game or all online games
6)dose it happen every time you play this game or only some times?
6)are you trying to hack the game?
what port forwarding do you have configured for the conection to your ps3?
if none learn how to configure it to limit redundant broadcast that may be causing this problem.
try turning unplugging all systems from your router except the ps3
if you are conected directly to a broadband conection you might want to get a router so you can filter the trafic that reaches your ps3
hackers/cheaters are malicious and will stop at nothing to get the thrill of winning ,first learn how to do it ,then you can know how to stop it from being done to you ,or at least level the playing field at the cost of self respect
i had exactly the same problem with my PS3 i phoned up sony and they told me to do a full format which can be found on the home menu under settings and format. MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU DO THE FULL FORMAT BACKUP ANYTHING YOU HAVE SAVED TO THE PS3 INCLUDING GAME SAVES AS THIS WILL ALL BE WIPED FROM THE PS3'S HARDDRIVE.
the full format takes a couple of hours and once this is done you can try a disc (game or movie). this may make it work although with mine it didn't. i phoned up again and they said they would replace the PS3 as it was still under warranty.
i was told that the full format is the last option before replacing the console, so if your out of warranty period you''ll have to hope it works.
The only thing you can do is get it replaced or fixed, unfortunately. Take it to wherever you got it with the reciept and they should be able to either replace it or send it back to Sony to get it fixed. If you want to keep all of your data, you'll need to get it fixed - but you can copy all your saved games onto a USB device if you want to (I'd recommend doing this whatever you do, just in case something happens).
gucciskills, this is a common problem if you have other people using your home internet connection at the same time. I have that problem every now and then even with no one on the home PC. It just means you are losing your connection. Try and reconfigure your router setting and see if that helps.
