How to connect a 3 computers to one photocopier machine using an IP address.

As all your PCs have Internet connection, I'm assuming that you have some kind of "network" already installed.
On each PC connected to LAN (Local Area Network) use "add printer wizard" and choose "add network printer" option. The wizard should be able to find your Canon device.

Tip

Why can Networked Devices not be used when a VPN connection is active?

With most VPNs, as soon as the VPN connection is established, it will take precedence over all other network connections. Access to the Internet (other than to keep the VPN connection itself alive) will go via the VPN and the corporate network you are connected to, rather than the local ISP. Furthermore, access to the local network is temporarily disabled.

As a result, your local print server may not be accessible,
you cannot use devices via the Network USB hub, or the USB ports on your router (if it has these), you may not even be able to access your local router's configuration page or ping the router or other machines in the local network.

This is done because of security reasons.
When a computer is connected to a corporate network via a VPN, the administrator needs to make sure that that machine can not act as a some form of a gateway enabling other machines in the local network to access that corporate network in any way. For that reason, the machine connecting via the VPN must temporarily be isolated from the local network.

My second laptop is not connect with modem

You can network both of these machines together so they share hard drive info and also the internet connection from the modem too,

=========\=====================

What operating systems are loaded on each machine thanks

XP and Vista are very different so we need to know to provide the correct solution for you.

Does your modem have 4 ports on the back?
do you have a network switch?4 ports?
=================================

XP ------->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Go to start
then my computer
network places
veiw network connection
(could be on or off,need to turn this on and
make sure modem is connected to the machines or network.)

click on set up new network wizard
do this on both machines at the same time
go all the way thru to the end and select to just finish the wizard at the end

shut down and restart -

Go back to network places and check the new settings your have just set up,
you should see the computers on the network now and should be able to share across the network too .
network shared files to network shared files
from computer 1 to computer 2.

Check your internet connections too....

Hope this helps ,,,,

Compaq n6120 - can't connect wireless

Most wireless networks are setup as infrastructure networks, meaning all communication is to/from a wireless access point/router that serves the same function as a switch/hub in a wired network as a central point to transfer communications from machine to machine. One works over the air the other through a wire.

There is an alternate form of wireless networking refered to as ad hoc -- in this version of wireless networking every wireless adapter can "talk" to any other wireless adapter configured with the same SSID (name) and security encryption (none, WEP, WPA). This is how somewhat less impromptu wireless networks are created similar to impromptu infrared networks some of us have used. One limitation of the ad hoc networks I have seen configured to date is access to the internet. I have posted an article where a stationary PC (required to be running for any other wireless machine to access the internet) with a wireless card in ad hoc mode could act as the router for wireless network but it required a cabled connection the internet. I suppose it could be a second wireless connection on a separate channel with a second wireless adapter in an infrastructure network but why? These types of networks are only recommended in another article for a limited (small) number of machines.

Based on this are you asking to create an ad hoc network to connect 2 PC's wirelessly without a wireless router or access to the internet from the wireless network (without a dedicated machine)?
