Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Hi, i'm new here.i meet the same issue.i forgot my windows administratorpassword a few days ago. quite a headache.
i triedseveral free software. it took me two days and got quite messy. unfortunatelynone of them work for me.finally i made it work with <a rel='nofollow' href="http://www.password-genius.com/ ">password genius </a>. the goodnews is it works. the bad one is it is not free. try it. you have no need to reinstall your system.

I have used a very simple way to rest admin password without erasing anything. follow the instructions:
1.download the software from
2. burn it to a CD.
3. pop the CD into your locked PC, and boot from the CD. you can login windows and reset your password.
the whole process took only a few minutes.

If you lost windows password, you can go into safe mode (F8 when booting up) to recover windows password while you forgot user account password,but if you forgot administrator password,there is no way to change administrator password while you forgot it,you must use software to recover administrator password.my favorite is windows password seeker.

Login to safemode, you can see all the user account. Here click on account which says “Administrator". You can login to this account without password, go to control panel and change/reset password of your account.

I think you have to make a windows password reset disk with third part utility. Burn a boot CD with the program, and insert it into the problem computer and your password will be reset to “Blank”, without losing any data and you needn't reinstall windows OS. Click start run type cmd press Enter
black screen should open DOS mode
this will vary depending on your operating system
type in net user username
For eg. If you want to change administrator password , type net user Administrator
it will prompt you to enter the new password
enter the new password and the password is changed
