We have a KitchenAid Gas Range Model KGSA906. The oven starts up (preheats) fine. Once it's preheated, many times it doesn't reignite to maintain the temperature. The hotter the temperature, the less chance of getting reignition of the flame. We can hear the spark but it doesn't reignite the flame. It seems to work a little better (reigniting) in the convection mode. I've taken it apart to check if there is any foreign object near the igniter, but nothing looks unusual. Any suggestions?

Hi. problem is likely the high limit thermostat, cutting off THRMST-FIX (Thermostat)
The
It can also be a defective temperature probe: PROBE-MEAT (Meat Probe) .

The valve coil must also be tested : VALVE-GAS (USE WPL 4453999).

The high limit can be tested bypassing it.
The temp probe is difficult to test at different temperatures. It is tested reading ohms on its contacts.
Similar test for the valve coil. It is tested checking if it has continuity.

I have a two ear old Kitchenaid gas range (KGRS807). It all at once stopped lighting the oven. The top burners still work fine. When you do anything in the oven (Bake , Broil, Convection) the electric...

You will need a new igniter module. The igniter module is told to spark by the control panel. There is also a flame detection for electronic start and that could be bad too.

Oven appears to start, takes forever to preheat,

This is what I would do: I would unplug the range and connect my test cord to your range cord. I use an ammeter along with my test cord to read the amp draw of the bake ignitor. If it cannot get above 3.5 amps I know the ignitor is bad or weak. Since the oven is working that means there is a good circuit. In order for the safety bi-metal to open the amp draw must reach 3.5 amps or better. So to me I am thinking bad ignitor. To get to it I remove the door oven racks and bottom, I then remove the flame spreader and unplug the quick connect to the ignitor. I remove the burner and ignitor and replace the ignitor on a work bench. I am too old to be bending over and trying to do any parts replacement inside an oven. LOL. I have a training film which shows how the silicone carbide ignitor works HERE. Post a model number and I may have a service manual, do not forget to rate the answer.

If it takes more than 2 minutes to light then that ignitor is weak. It should be very bright. It has to draw 3.5 amps to open the valve. The valve is good because the ignitor is working the oven control is good, all it can be is a weak ignitor. It should draw 3.5 amps or have measure 37 ohms.

Replace the glowbar ignitor in the oven. Turn off the gas supply. Remove the oven racks. Remove the base pan in the oven to access the ignitor. Most plug in. Some have wire nuts.
Your local appliance parts store will need the model number or the ignitor for a correct replacement.

Oven/Broiler Igniters for KitchenAid range KGST307

Oven bake ignites usually have lifetime 5-7 years. If igniter glows but gas not came in - replace igniter. Same with broil igniter.
