Hi dtoitj4, You have to find where the settings are for SATA mode in the bios.

Check the jumper settings on the back of the DVD burner you just installed, make sure that it's set for slave.
Let me know for any clarifications.

Restart your computer.
Press <DEL> to enter BIOS SETUP.
Look for "Boot" options, and change the "Boot Order" to make the CD/DVD the _first_ boot-device.
Save/Exit from BIOS SETUP.
Boot from the CD/DVD drive.

DOES p4pe supports sata dvd writer

The ASUS P4PE-BP does not support SATA drives. See the manual link provided;
http://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/p4b-lx/e1155_p4pe-bp.pdf
You'll need Adobe reader installed to view the manual.
If you bought a SATA writer you can still connect it through an IDE to SATA Serial ATA Splitter Power Cable Connector. See the link below.
http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&source=hp&q=IDE+to+SATA+Serial+ATA+Splitter+Power+Cable+Connector&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=8HZJS4r3C8ymlAe0s8wG&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CCIQrQQwAg

Hope you fing this helpfull

Hi my ASUS K8S-MX motherboard is not detecting SATA hard drive and Sata DVD Writer. Though my IDE hard drive and DVD Writer is working fine. Please help me with this .

Two thing here that can be the issue.

1. Bad Sata controller onboard
2. Sata controller is disabled in the bios.

The Fix

1. Purchase a independent sata controller there like $25 bucks.

2. Try going into the bios under advanced and make sure its not disabled.

I sure hope this finds your Very Helpful vote! Have a Merry Christmas and a wonderul New Year!

PC Does not boot up with LG SATA DVD Writer

Did you try to move the small jumper next to the connector on the back of the DVD writer.
Then try to choose different places to connect your DVD on the motherboard.
Check if you have the right driver or reinstall it.

Hope its help, don't forget to rate.
Cheers

Boot failure asus a7v 133 motherboard installed a pci sata raid

Hi whistler1410, you need to enter your bios menu. Press the delete key every couple of seconds to load the bios menu.

Once in the bios (See instructions located at the bottom of the menu, to help you move about).
You should see all connected drives at the main menu.
This includes the SATA writer & hard disk drives.
Go to the bios menu, BOOT.
SATA drive even DVD drives are seen by the bios as a master drive. So within the BOOT menu go to "Boot device priority".
The boot priority should read as follows.

First boot device [Floppy disk drive] (If one is connected)
Second boot device [Your SATA DVD writer]
Third boot device [Your primary hard disk drive] (The drive with windows loaded on it).
If you do not have a floppy disk drive than make the first boot device your DVD writer.
Save the bios & exit the bios. You should not receive "boot disk error message anymore".

Run into a problem, post here.
Good luck whistler1410!
