Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Blown fuse on mine. replaced it and it blew again instantly upon power up. meter shows 7 amps flowing through fuse holder and this is only a 2 amp fuse. What else in the circuit would be causing it to draw so many amps?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Klipsch IFI power supply has a fuse between the wall plug and the 120V AC to 18V DC transformer. it was blown. I replaced it and it blew again as soon as I turned it on. So it wasn't just a one time deal. I checked current and got 7 amps. something in the circuit is causing it to draw 7 amps when it should be less then 2 amps. trying to figure out what component is bad and how to troubleshoot to prove it. don't want to buy parts and replace them, and have it not fix the problem. Thanks

We are talking about a subwoofer? Two causes. The Power supply and the Amp section. First power -transformer, rectifier, voltage regulator, big capacitors. Amp section whatever does all the work, often on a heat sink, most likely cause too!

I hooked up a car amp and when i put the fuse in,it blew.then i disconnected the power, installed the fuse and as soon as i touched the power cable, the fuse blew again...

Hello
Some kind of dead short is there. It may be inside the amp circuit of with outside wiring. You have to find it by meter check. Contact a auto electrician and let hinm detect the fault. OK.

Hi ther the fuse has blown on the speaker out circet on my new amp any ideas why this would happen?

The fuse blew because of excess current. The cause of the excess current is either excess volume, a short in the speaker, OR the amp has failed and is shorted to one of the power rails internally and is driving DC current out.

Replace the fuse and use a meter to check the output voltage with NO speaker connected. It should be under 1/2 volt period. If it is, then check the resistance of the speaker. The DC resistance should be a little less than the rated impedance. Otherwise if the amp is kicking out a higher voltage or blows the fuse again, have the amp repaired.

Internal fuse on cambridge a1 mk3 has blown and when replaced, blew instantly??

When the fuse blows suspect an overload in either the power supply or Main Amp section.
Check for burnt/damage parts first!
Power Supply faults that will blow the fuse are: Transformer, Rectifier, Voltage Regulator, Large Electrolytic Capictors, Diodes & any other semiconductor connected with it.
Main Power Amp faults are: any semiconductor device on the heatsink.

This condition, may be produced by defective components (Q506, Q507). you can remove those transistor, replace the fuses, power-on and wait for relays click. if the fuses not blown again, them replace both transistor.

AR1 Subwoofer Keeps Blowing the 5 Amp Fuse

Well, so far so good. I reinstalled the newly repaired amp and fired it up and so far, so good. Ran it through about an hour of fairly intense break-in tracks and then ran it through about 2 dozen power up and down cycles to try to get it to fail (better now than a month from now and have to fight them on backing it up).

Full sound not working

I had the same problem and also traced it back to two of the four 7-amp fuses were blown. I replaced the fuses, but they immediately blew again. I used higher capacity fuses (10 amp) to see how bad the problem was and those blew. Testing the problem a third time with the speakers disconnected yielded the same results.
There's an internal short in the system.
The solution? Don't buy RCA again.

Amp keeps blowing fuse

I have this same problem. You have blown the internal amp. I have had 2 of these do the same thing. There is nothing you can do but report it to infinity and try to get the unit replaced.
