That should be easy unplug from wall and remove cover from the side of compressor, mark wires and replace with one that that model call for. It is not always the start relay that causes the start relay to go bad. So if you know it is the relay I will walk you through this. You can find me here at Fixya or=> Here or here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services if you need answers let me know! Hope that helps you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

HI,
The airconditioner turns on the auxillary fan when the compressor is on via a relay. I would change the relay. If hard wired the fan to the compressor I would think the fuse has blown since there is too much of a load on one circuit. Check to A/C fuse. If the fuse is no good replace it.If it is not the fuse, check the fuse under the HOOD..

Please post back for how things turned or for further assistance..Thank you!..Regards!!..

Hard Start Capacitor A hard start capacitor, its only purpose is to add...

Hard Start Capacitor
A hard start capacitor, its only purpose is to add additional starting torque when the compressor is starting and for just a few milliseconds.
It is wired thru a normally closed set of points in a potential relay and in parallel with the run capacitor, when the compressor is starting the start capacitor is in the circuit adding additional starting torque to the compressor, when the compressor reaches a certain speed it generates enough back EMF (voltage) to energize the potential relay coil and open the normally closed set of points and take the start capacitor out of the circuit and then will stay open, keeping the start capacitor out of the circuit as long as the compressor is running. The hard start capacitor is only in the circuit or working for a few milliseconds, it’s not doing anything once the compressor s back EMF opens the potential relay coil.
These potential relays have different cut in and cut out voltages, so the same relay won’t work with any compressor and may actually damage the compressor or shorten its life if you don't use the right potential relay. The compressor manufacturer and the local parts store list the correct capacitor start relay and start capacitor for every compressor and now they are putting the information on the compressor on the nameplate with the model and serial number.
As a rule of thumb you can use a capacitor or start capacitor within 10% of its rating if you can’t get the correct one.

Kenmore model 105.53534300 side by side refridgerator not cooling

Relays are located on the left side of the compressor. How long ago did you smell the burning smell? Are you 100% sure the compressor is running? If it is, nothing is wrong with the relays. Although sometimes it is hard to tell if the compressor is running. By morning temps will be higher than tonight if compressor isnt running. If it isnt running, relays must be changed. I will post shortly on how to change the relays.

Neither compartment hasnt worked in 2 day fan is on continusly. cleaned coils of dust now in hearing a clicking ever 2 minutes could it be low anti freeze

Hi,

This means the relay to the compressor failed to run the compressor, so check the relay and replace if needed. if with a new relay the compressor doesn't run than the compressor could be lock and would need to be checked or replaced. Its really hard to give you more information without a model number are not every model works the same anymore. I hope this leads you in a quick resolution of your issue. Good Luck

My refrid is on but compressor clicks off and on

Hi!
That is probably the compressor relay
The relay is on the compressor and needs replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay

Thank you for using fixya

Compressor is not getting on but fan is working fine and i noticed the fan out air is not hot

If the compressor is not working then for sure your AC is not working. So first of all we need to check why the comrpessor is not switched on. Need to check on the thermostat if the relay is activating according to the set data.
If so the comrpessor relay must work or both compressor and relay can be faulty. Check also the capacitor to the motor.
The main controller must give the output to trigger relay, Can be bypassed to confirm status of compressor /relay/capacitor or else the main controller board can be faulty.

The condition you describe usually indicates that either the compressor is working too hard and drawing too much current or the start relay is gone bad. The noises that you hear may just be a safety shut-off within the relay. A good place to start is changing start relay for the factory recommended one. you will have to access the compressor compartment to see this.

If the standard relay does not correct the problem, there is in most cases a temporary fix, it is called a hard start relay/capacitor. It is usually available from an appliance parts retailer for around $15 to $20. Installation instructions are included, just be sure to unplug your dehumidifier first and make sure that someone following you can repair from where you left off. This relay assembly can normally get you up and running but it should not be used as a permanent fix. This will not correct for a refrigerant leak in the system or a faulty compressor. Outside of this may require having a professional come in to fix the issue, it can range anywhere from a faulty compressor to a refrigerant leak.

Check your owners manual before making any repairs or modifications to your refrigerator. And there may be an extended warranty on the sealed system and compressor if needed.
