have you checked the voltage where the board makes contact with the battery? This may be a dc jack issue.

Ery adjusting your brightness via the function keys on the keyboard also under power settings see if screen is set to save energy when using ac power usually this is set to save power when on batteries it just might be reversed on your machine

My sons Dell Vostro 1500 has a problem with the AC adaptor. It will run the laptop but wont charge the battery. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,David

If it will run off the AC Adapter but won't charge the battery then odds are it is the battery that won't take the charge and not the AC Adapter's inability to charge anything.

Google "dell vostro1500 battery" and change to shopping. You will see many available knock off battery's starting at 20 dollars.

Although AC Adapters go out too. They last a lot longer than batteries do. Today's batteries just don't last. I would say average life span is a year to a year and a half.

Refrigerator doesnt cool and is showing only 6.75 volts

They need 12-14 volts to run correctly. Is it in an RV where the batteries are low or bad or does it have a power supply/rectifier that is supposed to feed it 12 volts? If so, check that power supply/rectifier. If it can run off 120 ac it may have a rectifier built in to check.

Screen will not brighten

Try attaching an external monitor to the laptop & see if you could get any display on it. If this is successful, then you might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp

T23 2647 Think pad AC power adapter lost

Hi,

No. You must use a power supply that is 16 volts or that is specified to be used with the laptop.
You can find the information about the power consumption (volts and amperage) underneath the laptop. If it says 16 volts then you MUST use a 16 volt power supply.
If you try using a 19 volt power supply you run the risk of damaging the motherboard or blowing the motherboard completely.

Regards.

No power, no lights on laptop

I think you should check the real power supply ... 120 V in and what comes out ... volts (ac - dc) and amps or what fraction of an amp.

Please compare the old with the new power supply. The new power supply should be the same volts - same kind (AC or DC) and at least the same amp rating. You can use higher amp rating but not lower - lower will burn up - literally)

Volt meter ... always set it above the suspected voltage. Batteries are always DC. Houses, buildings, etc always AC. Power supplies - could be mixed - ac in and dc out.

So if you were measuring in your home, you set the meter to 130 or higher on the AC scale. If you were doing your auto, 24 volts DC (or so).

House current, probe color doesnt make any difference. Should read about 120 Volts between the narrower (or right side/ground down orientation) or the two slots and the wider of the two shots (wide should be the neutral side - ground on the bottom). You can prove the hot side by measuring to the ground. White wire to ground = no reading. Black wire to ground = 120 volts. (The black and white are INSIDE the electric outlet. You can use either probe to do the measurement.

I hope this helps you.

you have a bad plug on the end of the power supply a loose jack on the computer or a bad power supply you need to test the power supply with a volt meter to see if it is putting out any power if it is you have a bad connector on the pc or an intermittent connection on the power plug end. get a new battery before you blow something up. it is not good for the power supply to run the compputer all the time. it will shorten the life.

Ibook g4 rebuild

Hi there.
Make sure you have the voltage and amperage right first before you try and power up the motherboard.
Most laptop motherboards run on 15, 19 or 20 volts and take a different amperage like 3.42A for example.
The power in will be displayed underneath the ibook so take a look there.
Don't plug a 24 volt power supply into it unless it specifies that because you could damage the board.

Good luck with project
