1.When you first power on the system (before windows loads) press f8.

2. then select "start windows in safe mode"

3. Id system loads windows in safe mode try running a antivirus to see if you have any infections that may be causing the issue (free ones include avg and malrware bytes)

4. If you do have infections you will want to back up any crucial data and then reinstall windows using your recovery discs.

try these steps first then depending on results we may have to dig deeper.

Hi ,

Unfortunaly , there is no driver nor software running beyond XP for this unit .
As a workaround , you can download and install Windows XP mode at Microsoft's : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7 or http://lifehacker.com/5965889/how-to-run-windows-xp-for-free-in-windows-8

Windows XP will not boot up. After Asus start-up screen, screen goes black with blinking cursor.

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk and an external cd unit.

Sorry, Windows is corrupted beyond repair (you probably have a very nasty malware infection). A fresh full install is mandatory.
And next time use a better antivirus.

Installing XP on HP m8120n

The Blue Screen of Death (also known as a stop error, BSOD, bluescreen, or Blue Screen of Doom) is an error screen displayed by some operating systems, most notably Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error which can cause the system to shut down, to prevent damage.
Bluescreens on NT-based Windows systems can be caused by poorly written device drivers or malfunctioning hardware. In the Win9x era, incompatible DLLs or bugs in the kernel of the operating system could also cause bluescreens.
Bluescreens can also be caused by physical faults such as faulty memory, power supply issues, overheating of components, or hardware running beyond its specification limits. Bluescreens have been present in all Windows-based operating systems since Windows 3.1; earlier, OS/2 and MS-DOS suffered the Black Screen of Death, and early builds of Windows Vista displayed the Red Screen of Death after a boot loader error.

I hope it helps!!!
