Question about Stanley Bostitch STB-MIIIFS Flooring Stapler

1 Answer

I have a #MIIIFS stanley bostich floor stapler that is less than a year old. It won't drive a staple anymore. It started to drive it about every other time then it got to be every fourth and then every tenth and then not at all. It appears that the plunger that drives the staple just won't retract far enough to allow the staple to slide into place. I have another gun just like it that works fine and in comparison the good one retracts about an eighth of and inch further than the bad one. I can't even force it into the gun far enough to allow the strip of staple to fall into place. The gun fires well with plenty of power and makes dent where the plunger hits but no staple.

First step -- have you oiled it recently? If not, do that first and cycle it a bit to see if that fixes it. If not, take it apart and look at the striker pin carefully. See if there are any burrs or rough spots on it. Also, check the pieces it runs against. Smooth out any burrs with fine sandpaper or a fine file. Here is an exploded view to help you disassemble if necessary

If any parts are too damaged or worn to work well, here is a parts list:

Hope this helps. Message back if not.

What part do I need to remove to make a bostich MIIIFS floor stapler to shoot 2 inch staples

You shouldn't have to do anything to the MIIIFS flooring stapler to shoot 2" staples. It is designed to shoot 1 1/2" to 2" staples right out of the box. If your stapler won't feed 2" staples, check the magazine all the way up to the power head for any foreign material that may hold up your staples.

My bostich flooring staler wont fully drive every staple and it is getting is not leaking air

Your compressor needs to be checked first. There is an air pressure regulator on most machines - be sure all is in working order. It might help to be sure you're playing any lubricants in the stapler configuration as well.

Setting staples too deep

The depth is set by the bumper and the bumper spacer. Are you sure these were put back in? the air pressure only makes a small difference on the depth...

D Farley,
I repair these nailers all the time. Anytime the nail or staple is bending you have 2 causes. Either the stapler has a broken blade, the magazine is loose on the foot gate, or you are shooting into plywood over concrete. that is allowing the staple to hit the cement subfloor. Use 11 /2" staples on 3/4" wood floor over 3/4" plywood when over concrete.
