Whirlpool type 111 washer drains won't spin. makes loud screeching noise. installed new clutch assembly. still no spin.still high pitched noise (like a belt slipping) but type 111 is direct drive

Belt slipping? is the wash tub free to turn when empty? socks and small clothing items may be jammed in the drum / tub cavity caused by overloading if its stuck. May need to strip machine and remove drum to get them out.
Don't overload machines!

During spin cycle the washer makes a loud thumping noise. Not a clanging/sharp noise. When I manually turn drum it sounds like something is loose inside. Like a ball may sound inside drum as it turns.

Is it a front loader? You may have something stuck between the tubs or it may be a broken "paddle" One of the plastic baffles that move the clothes around in the tub. they should all be tightly against the tub.

Drum won turn

Wow, check around the bellows, gray rubber seal in front between the stainless basket, remove any item. Didn't find anything now unplug unit remove top and lower machine covers. Run the flashlight along the outer tub while looking inside the stainless basket, locate any items that may jam rotation of the inner basket and remove.

Check for pin, or other item caught in a hole in the tub rubbing on the outer tub to make noise as the tub turns.

Washer everything works but wont drain just makes noise

Hello there:
this is a fairly common problems with washing machines please try each of the following suggestions that i will provide below
It spins, but doesn't pump or drain If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out. To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port. Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job. If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken.or clogged If so, you need to remove the pump cover and clean the pump. out and see if the internal parts are good ok if so just clean it out and all hoses and then reassemble and try to wash again ok?
Hope this helps
Best regards mike

My clothes are sopping wet when the wash has finished and there is water at the bottom of the drum. I can sort it by taking clothes out, bailing out the water and then re-spinning the clothes twice to get...

Sounds like a blocked outlet pipe. It may be possible that a small item of clothing i.e. sock or baby item may be stuck between the drums and occasionally moves over the outlet from the drum causing the blockage, hence only happens once in a blue moon. To see if you can see if there is something between the drums use a flashlight to help you look through the holes in the inner drum to see if there's a stray sock or something that can be moving around between the drums and covering the outlet. If there is then you will have to remove the outlet pipe from the bottom of the drum to try and remove the item that is causing the blockage, check all the way around the drum as it may be stuck to the inner drum at the time. If no item is found between drums then the blockage may be in the outlet pipes (both sides of the pump) or in the pump. Check these also as it may even be a small button or coin creating a blockage if it is moving around.

Debrie found on clothes after washing

Hi,
This is sometimes caused by grease coming from the drum bearing through a failing seal. If this isn't checked and repaired as necessary, the drum bearing will fail pretty soon and then the machine will make a nasty grinding noise and that will be the end of it. I hope you have some other cause in your case! Do make sure the filter is cleaned and then run the machine on a hot cycle with no clothes in it to give it a really good clean.

Hope this helps. D.
