Question about Bosch Saws

1 Answer

I am trying to remove a motor from my 10'' Bosch table saw. I am having trouble removing the pin on the side where the gear is that moves the blade up and down. I got the pin out on the other side easily. Can you help me?

They are both just slide into the aluminum frame. If you haven't done it already the easiest way to service the parts you are talking about is to remove the plastic housing so you can access the pins easier. Make sure you remove both the c-clips and to pin should slide out. Sometime there is saw dust in the pin bores and you have to use a small pin punch and hammer to tap the pin out.

My problem is not the motor. It's the gears. I have new parts, I just want to make sure theres no special order to take the3 parts out and advice on taking the C clip off

I'm assuming you have the 4000?
The plastic gears are usually held on with roll pins not c clips?
I will drive the roll pins out first, then remove the 2 screws holding the bracket, third, remove the 2 nuts holding the second shaft and slide the gears off. Replace in the reverse order, the only trick is lining up the hole in the shaft to drive the roll pins back in.

Bosch 4000 table saw motor does not turn, very stiff

Possibly something has jammed inside the motor housing although unlikely.
Electric brake seized perhaps?
Carbon brushes need replaced?

These saws (and the newer 4100) have a history of motor problems, with the field winding and electronic motor speed control being the most common points of failure. If you go to an online tool parts supplier like toolpartsdirect- Bosch 4000 saw you will see a list of the parts available, as well as the most commonly ordered parts.

Can not remove blade of Bosch GTS 10

Practically all of the saws I have worked on have left handed threads on the motor shaft.

Blade won't rise

it lowers easy because of the weight of the motor. What I would try and do is unplug tool first and lay on its backside and try and blow all the dirt from the gears/slide assembly. Look for a broken part where the shaft goes thru and if none use a DRY LUBE spray and also check for proper meshing of the gears. After lubrucating while saw is laying on its back look at the gear for any possible binding. Set upright and try again.

I changed the blade on my 10" Bosch miter saw this morning. First time and it was a bit challenging to release the screw when the blade was freely moving. Maybe there would have been a way to freeze...

see my other post. Also there is a locking mechanism to stop the blade rotation when removing it. It should be around the gearcase on the back side of the tool away from the blade.

My 10" Bosch miter saw

I would remove the blade and try the saw again, there is a possibility that you might have gotten a flange on incorrectly or left the spacer out.

Blade goes down easy-binds on table bracket going up? any hints ti solve.Threaded rod turns easy when gear dog os not in.

Try spraying the threaded rod and gears with pure silicone spray and allow 10 minutes for it to dry before trying to raise the blade
Use compressed air to blow out everything you can
INCLUDING the motor Keeping thing blown clean with allow the unit to work better and last longer

My Bosch 4000 blade will not go down any farther than an inch above the top of the table.I have checked and cleaned all the gear area and can see nothing that is causing it .

First of all, love the saw. As good as portables can be, the 4000 is really great.

Now, just remedied the blade height adjustment problem, here is how:

Unplug saw.

Removed blade....not easy when you cannot raise the blade, flip the saw upside down and remove the plastic shield, turn saw upright and remove blade.

Used my compressor with blower attachment and blasted all of the dust out of the gears and screw rods with saw upright and upside down, bevel saw to 45 degrees to gain more access..

Sprayed quite liberally with silicone spray lube and gently worked blade height adjustment, adding more lube, cranking wheel, more lube....blade adjustment now works like the day I bought the saw.

DO NOT USE WD40 or the like. This will just attract more dirt in a very short amount of time.

We'll see how the silicone spray holds up.

Good luck,

Having trouble removing the motor from the bosch table saw. i have removed the four black screws from the black housing but it does not want to seperate from the aluminum housing. it will turn seperate...

tilt the saw head and then use a screwdriver to gently pry apart. the bearings in the housings are keeping it from coming apart or the armature and or field are melted causing this, either way the screwdriver trick will work.

Can you tell me what is causing my delta mitre saw motor to run but the blade does not spin powerful enough to cut moulding?

Maybe the bolt which holds the blade on is loose. If the motor is on the RIGHT side of the blade, then the bolt has 'left-hand' thread. Turn it counter-clockwise to tighten.
