The problem is that the polarized lens between the red lcd and the prizm has gotten to hot. This causes the polarize material to burn off the glass. It usually starts at the middle and will increase over time. I have been trying to find a source for this part. Hitachi does not have a part number for it in the service manual. Hitachi lists the complete optical block (light engine). The cost of an optical engine is $350-$500 + labor. The cost of the lens should be less than $10 if you could find a source. This is a piece of glass about 1" x 1 1/4" with a polarize film.

My tv has small white dots of lights in most of the screen can this be fixed.

Ensure your input device is not causing this, by changing the TV input to a different video device. Then, look for any loose contacts on the RC cable or input cable. If nothing works, better refer it to a qualified service technician.

Black bar on the top and bottom during watching the tv

Hello

If you are watching television and you see black lines on the left and right sides of the screen, check to see if you are watching an HD broadcast or a standard definition broadcast. You can do this by bringing up the TV guide menu on your remote. If the show is in HD, it should take up the full screen. However, if it is not HD, bars will be present on the left and right of the screen. That is because standard definition programing is in 4x3, which will not take up the entire screen.

If the picture you are watching not only has black bars on the sides, but on the tops and bottoms of the screen as well, your "Zoom" mode has somehow gotten off-kilter. Press the "Zoom" button on the remote until the image appears correct. If this does not work, power down the television, wait a few moments, and power the TV back on. The image should be correct now.

If the image on the screen looks stretched or squished, this is because your HD cable receiver is not set up properly for your widescreen television. Press the "Menu" button on the receiver

GREY SPOTS ON BACK OF SCREEN NOTICEABLE WITH WHITE

Hi if your tv is a dlp it might be an issue with the DMD board Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

What is the best way to clean the TV screen ?

1Turn off your monitor or set the background color to black so you can easily identify spots that need to be removed. Step2Apply the distilled water to your clean, soft cloth. Step3Wipe your LCD screen in smooth motions from left to right, going from the top of the screen to the bottom. Step4Let the screen air dry or simply run a dry area of the cloth over the screen again.
