The oven sensor (
WB21X5301) is suppose to tell the oven control when to turn on and off to reach and maintain oven temp, but before you go replacing it, try to observe how long it takes from the time you turn the oven on to the time the oven ignites. Ignition should be 30 seconds to about 90 seconds. If it is taking a very long time, replace the igniter (
WB2X9154
). Ignitors get weaker over time, and this should be looked at first, as both parts are not real cheap, so you don't want to just start throwing parts at it. Here is a trick you can try: On the JGBP90 (model you posted under) the broil ignitor is the same part number as the oven ignitor, so if the broiler, which is generally used much less than the oven, is working fine you can interchange the two ignitors to see if that solves your oven temp problem without having to buy a oven temp sensor first.
GE XL44... Oven does not work. It was working just fine one day & then would not work. Everything else works fine. Stove has electric ignitiion. Could it be it is not working on the oven? Any ideas?
I have the exact problem. We had the ignitor replaced 2 already and it works for 18 months and stops. Occasionally, it the oven won't even start to heat. I am ready to throw it out.
It was the igniter. The gas would go higher and then lower. The oven would take an hour to heat up. The new igniter did the trick. Thanks for your help and that link to the new part.
