Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

Hi. The keypad mounted to the exterior of the garage has stopped functioning despite replacing the 9 volt battery w a good battery. Tried reprograming w the instructions: it worked for a couple uses after re-programming and battery replacement then quit again. We have the Chamberlain Liftmaster Formula I with 120 v, 6 amps & 1/2 HP model 228OR installed June of 2003. The door responds perfectly to the interior wall mount & the handheld opener. v8juicer2004@yahoo.com thanks!

Your keypad has problems. Be sure to replace it with the same model as there are different kinds.

The motors in a garage door opener are under quite a strain and will not run too much without overheating. The thermal overload will cut them off until they cool. This could be your problem. The model number of the opener is on the end of the motor unit nearest the door and you need that to make sure you have the right keypad. There are more than one and some will not work.

The Multi-Function Door Control works, but the Keyless Entry that is mounted on the outside of the garage does not.

If your hand held remotes still work and the batteries are good in the keypad then it has failed.

My keypad works,my remote opener does not, even

It is related. One of the buttons on your wall control is the lock button and has a lock icon on it. Press and hold it for 3 seconds. The blinking should stop and your remote should now work.
