Question about Bosch Ovens

For my Bosch gas oven, the cooktop and broiler work, which means the controller to the oven works, and there is some gas coming in to the top burners and broiler, but the oven and warming drawer fail to heat up, despite the control panel displaying that they are in warm up mode... What is wrong? Clog in lower gas burner in oven?? How to fix ASAP. Have baking to do for tommorrow

We have removed the cover. There is no gas coming out from the lower oven burner and no spark from the igniter.

This gives me some guidance when the repairman gets here this AM. I am panicked to have a broken oven, as I have a party that needs the oven to function on Friday. Thanks for the ideas

See if you can open the panel at the lower part of the oven to gain access to the burners. When trying to start the oven see if there is spark and if the burners start a flame. If there is no spark, you may have to check the wiring or the ignition is faulty. You will have to manually light this up using a starter gun or start it up with a flame. Just make be mindful of the length of time you have the temp control of the oven to prevent gas from accumulating.

Hi,
This is not a gas issue. I is a common problem with the ignitors on gas ovens. They get weak after a while and they do not pass the required amount of electric through them to tellthe gas valve to open. The result is that the ignitor will start and glow and appear to be working, when in fact it is not.
You will need to order and replace the ignitor or have it replaced.
Unfortunately that will not help you out for today and I know of no safe way to work around the problem.

You can find parts for your unit by doing a search for “appliance parts”.
Once you get the results of the search, pick a site and when it comes up it will usually ask for the model number of your unit.
Enter your model number and you will then get a page with exploded views and a parts menu.
Find the part you need and then order it.
Check a few different sites to be sure that you are getting the best pricing.
Most sites can have the part to you in a couple of days.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

My oven is not working The Broiler works and the stove top works fine but the oven will not heat and when you turn it on no gas comes out I tried turning it on and using a lighter but nothing happens

You gave us good clues in information!-- Thanks!

Most modern gas ovens have a device called a Glow Ignitor to light the burner.
If this ignitor has filed, it will NOT left the gas valve open-- (Good thing, right? :-) )

You say the broiler lights fine-- so let's observe something when the Broiler lights:
Do you see a bright glow near the Broiler burner?
(Usually toward the top rear of the oven--)

Well, you should see a similar bright glowing near the BOTTOM rear of your oven, for the main burner to light off-- If you do NOT see this glowing-- then you need a new ignitor-

You can remove the bottom burner cover, and dig deeper into the repair if you like-
But a new ignitor needs to be exactly like the failed one-- the safety circuit is very fussy about the exact same ignitor-- or it will not allow lighting-- even with a new 'generic' installed.

How deep do you want to go into this repair?-- Maybe it is time to call the service people into do the job?-- You can tell them that you think the ignitor needs replacing-- and approx. what will they charge you for the service call and the ignitor?

I hope this helped.

SET DIGITAL THERMOSTAT TO SAY 350 DEGREES WILL NOT TURN ON OVEN,,, ? IF I SET TO BROIL BROIL WORKS BUT OVEN WILL NOT TURN ON ?

Possibly the ignitor for the main oven burner has failed--

An observation question:

When the Broiler 'lights' and comes on, do you notice the ignitor glowing bright, before the gas valve (to the Broiler) opens, and you get the Broiler lighting---

Now-- for the main burner to come on, -- there has to be a similar bright glow from the MAIN BURNER ignitor, before its main burner gas valve can open-- No Ignitor?-- No ignition, and not Main Oven burner!

Let me know what you need from this point on --

Kenmore gas oven model 91136519 from 1992 . The stove top burner work as well as the oven broiler. But the bake mode of the oven will not come on. What could be the problem?

Faulty temp. control...The variable temperature portion is faulty, but broiler function FULL ON GAS is ok...Replace the Temp control assembly.

My Maytag model # CGR3742BDW The broiler, cooktop work perfectly. The oven seems to never get the command to send gas to the burner. The "glow" pilot igniter works, just no gas.

Just because the igniter is working does not mean it is doing it's job. Very common for an igniter to glow but go bad so that it isn't sending current to the valve to open up. Igniter has to generate 3.2 amps to work the valve. Part # is 74007498 at a cost of approx. 80. to 90.00. Hope this helped.

Bottom burner in my oven barely comes on, in turn, not heating my oven to the temperature that is selected. Top burner (or broiler seems to work fine). The gas stove is a GE XL44 and is 6 years old. Please...

You need a new t-stat control. Your element is fine. Give us a call with your complete model number and we'll get the right part out to you asap to get you ready for the winter.

Oven lights on low flame but will not come up on high flame .cannon chester cooker.suspect by pass is not working. Do I need control knob/thermostat with the phial. Thanking you.

all gas range ovens have a small metal box in the back upper area of the broiler burner; a gas line runs into this box as do two wires; this is a "flame control " gas valve; the way it works is: after the pilot has been lit as you turn the oven temp control a heating element in the box causes a small valve to open allowing a larger amount of gas into the oven burner to ignite the whole burner If you can only get pilot flame on high replace this valve

Sf195lehz5 free standing gas oven,

Check both gas valve solonoids for 216 ohms [blue broiler wire to the orange common and red oven wire to orange common] both must be ok.

Check oven temp sensor for 1080 ohms.

If above are ok then the problem is either the spark module or the control board.

Since the gas valve was not opening and there was not ignitor sound I replaced the spark module for about $90. You have a 50-50 chance of being right.

My range is relitively new and I'm haveing an oven light problem which I traced to the control board so I may replaced this board to for about $200.

Xl44 gas

two things either hte clock(control ) assy not sending powerdown to the igiotr, or hte valve that the ignitor is connected to onst nay good, unplugh the unit andwitha meter try testing the 2 wire connections on the top of the safety valve( i wire goes to the ignitor nad the other is a neutral wire htt hooks downt to under the valve for the broiler, you should show continuity across those to leads, if not your valve is no good and will need replacing
