Question about Hotpoint Refrigerators

1 Answer

Clicking sound coming from the main control board, constant click sometimes for several hours, the compressor is trying to come on but with each click from the control board it does not engage. Somtimes it engages and the refrigerator will run fine for a few hours, then back to the clicking sound again for another 10 to 12 hours. Then sometimes it just won't work at all no sounds nothing and everything in the freezer melts., then another day it's working fine, then the next day the clicking again starts at the control board in the back. When I depress the ice, water dipenser the clicking stops, when I let go the clicking starts back up after 5 seconds.

Clicking sound

That is your compressor overload switch, and it's telling you that your compressor is overheated. Sometimes this situation will clear itself up by turning off your fridge for a few hours until the compressor is cool to the touch. This clicking problem can be caused by several things including a worn out compressor, but is often caused by turning the thermostat up and down several times in succession which overloads the compressor.Try letting it cool to the touch and restarting before trying a repair. that may be all you need to do.

A clicking sound was coming from behind my fridge and the temp display was not working. digital display. the light in the fridge comes on but the fridge is not working What could it be?

You have a bad main control board , located on the back of the refrig , behind an 8" X 10" panel . Part number WR55X10942 . This control board , usually clicks when the compressor tries to start , or when the compressor cooling fan tries to start . It also controls the display .

I have a GE referigerator Model # GSH25KGRE of 4 years old... I hear a constant click-click noise coming from the back/motor..and I suspect the temp in the freezer is slowly dying down..

The clicking behind the refrig , is comming from the main control board , behind the 8" X 10 " panel . The part number is WR55X10656 . The compressor relay , on the board has burnt . Yes , your freezer is thawing , due to the clicking .

Constant clicking sound coming from power box amana fridge

When you heard the click and the compresor stops ,check if it's very hot , if yes the compresor is of on overload and this could happend because 1 the condenser coil is dirty ,2 the relay is bad or 3 the compresor has a problem .Also check if behind the kick plate there's a timer (some units have it there or next to the cold control ) that could cause a problem too.

Disconnect the power cord (or switched power off) and wait an hour or two until compressor has cooled. When you now switch the power on, the clicking is heard only once and compressor starts (weak noice and vibration noticed). When compressor gets warmed, the compressor will stop and clicking starts again (clicking comes from electric circuits when compressor is switched off and on repeatedly, but it will not start because it has stucked - this is typical fault in old compressors said maintenance expert to me). Buy a new fridge.

Could be the defrost cycle is not running properly and the fan has ice on it.

GE GSH25JSRFSS REfrigerator not working

I had the same problem as do thousands of people with this same fridge. The mother board is bad and needs to be replaced. It is easy to do yourself and the part costs less than a service call.: Unplug the cord from the wall, remove the panel from the back of the fridge (it is about the size of a small shoe box lid) You will see the mother board (ice, water, light, and compressor control unit). It is an electronic circuit board. There are about 5 or so plugs going into the board. Remove the plugs and the retaining screws and search Ebay for the part#WR55x10552 GE Power Control Board. I found one for $74, popped it in, and everything works better than new!
