Re: can you help me

You may have a problem there since the output of the PC is in stereo and the mike of the telephone is in mono.

This is what you can do, use a stereo plug to connect to the PC. Get the left channel (this is the same channel for mono) wire and use this to connect to the mike of the telephone.

Whatever you play on your PC can then be heard by your friend.

I keep losing the device every 30 seconds. the network is connected to a Gbps network

try changing the network cable, these are infamous having 16 points of failure in every cable. I find this especially true in my Gbps networks, crappy cables. Hope that helps! cheers. Next I'd look into your router/hub/switch. I have had many of these fail too after a couple years. Third, I'd try slowing my network to 100Mbps instead of auto in the network adapter properties under the speed heading. sometimes slowing it seems to solve lost packets. (which could be due to a bad wire) Hop that helps Also try simply moving the device closer to the router if its a wireless device, or change transmit channel on the router config, Noise can be introduced in a number of ways these days. cheers.

Belkin N+N storage router doesn't work wirelessly

Hi, I had something like that with my Belkin Router N+N with USB F6D6230-4 V1, only I had a configuration wit a wired XP pc, Wireless XP and Wireless Vista. With both XP pc’s it was really plug and play, but with the Vista pc I had some problems to access the on the router connected USB drive. The Vista pc was connected to the network, and had Inet access. Other shared (network) drives were accessible on the Vista pc.

The first thing I tried was if I could access the drive trough its IP address, (\\routerIP in my case \\, and I did get a question for a username and password. The only thing is that I tried all the regular names like Admin, Administrator, and so on, with my password but I did not get access.
On the internet there was no help to find for this model router on the Belkin websites (diverent country’s), the data on the Belkin websites is out of date, there is no support to find for new models. ………. So finely I did took the phone and did call the support desk…

Solution to my problem:
The problem seems to be in the Belkin storage manager program, that program works not correct under Vista. When I enter the routers IP and use the username “guest” without a password, it get access to it from my Vista pc. The follow thing I did was press the right mouse button on the drive, and press on “make connection” So..

Username : guest
Password : none

Hope, that this is also the solution to your problem.

The Netherlands.

HELP: anybody who can help me?? I got some virus in my PC,and it often control my computer, so that i can not do what i want to do. and i am afraid my personal messages would be stolen. I have tried...

There is a possibility that you have a KEYLOGGER installed in your computer. This means that if you change passwords, the keylogger will record it, and relearn the password. keylogger messages have to be transmitted by the web. I suggest that you change the passwords of all the IM / messengers, and mail services from FROM ANOTHER COMPUTER, with a different IP, then go back to your computer and disconnect the DSL cable, so puter cannot communicate and run your spyware software again.
Also look in task manager for unfamiliar programs running in background.

My hard drive was knocked of the table and landed on carpet

Computers do not like being dropped especially when it is powered up and running. It can do a heaps of damage.
If the hard drive in the computer makes a clicking sound and it won't boot up and/or an error message says it cannot find the hard disk or operating system, then the hard disk is damaged beyound repair.
With luck if the hard disk is only damaged then you can replace the hard drive and install Windows on the new hard drive with the device drivers and your programs. Your data on the old hard drive is gone unless you backed up your data onto CD, flash drive etc.

When I click on the Iomega drive letter (N on my PC), I receive the message that it is not connected to the network. How can I reconnect it?

If you do not see the drive when you go into Windows Explorer or My Computer, it is not being recognized by the pc. You need to reinstall the driver from the cd that came with the drive if you have one. If you do not, go to Iomega's website and download it from there.

I hope this helps!

External HDD not working , but can here it running

Have you tried powering it up without connecting it to the computer?
It should at least power up and do something. After that try connecting it to your PC (with the disk powered up already).

You can further check this external drive troubleshooting article, which has some tips on trying to get external disks to work.

Freecom external hard drive classic 2.5

Okay , so there are some steps to figure out what is wrong with your external.

Firstly , if your computer makes a sound when you plug in your external , go to Start-Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Disk Management , and see if your external drive is listed here with your local drives. If it is listed , right click on the drive and change the drive letter to make it appear in "my computer".

If your drive does not make a connection sound when connecting to your computer and also does not show up , please follow the next step.

Remove the hard drive from the casing if possible and install it in your computer case or another external case.If the drive works , the problem is with the casing and you can ignore the drive.

Now , if the problem is with the casing , there are still 3 possibilities.

  1. The USB cable between the drive and the computer may be damaged.
  2. The circuit board which connects your drive to the interface of the external may be blown.
  3. The power supply (if applicable) may have a blown transformer.
The latter is the easiest to diagnose , does your external light up at all when you plug in the power? If not , then this is probably your problem. On the bottom of the adapter is a label which you will be able to use to have a new adapter made at your local electronics shop and this will cost about $30 max. They will also be able to test the adapter with a clamp meter to see if this is really the problem and this should be free.

The second component you want to test is the USB cable. If you have a printer , swop out the cables and see if your printer functions normally. Most externals use the same connector so you should be able to test it in this manner. If the cable works go on to the last step. If the cable is defective , replace it with a new one which you can find for about $10 at most electronics and chain stores.

The last component to test is the circuit board. This is a bit of a grey zone as you probably won't be able to spot the blown component unless it failed really badly. With the casing already opened , locate the external's circuit board and check to see if you have any blackened components or fluids leaking from some components. If all the other components of the external worked perfectly , then this is the faulty part. It is not really economical to replace the circuit as most of the time it is out of production by the time you need to replace it and it still costs a lot even if it is available so if your drive is working perfectly when connected via sata or IDE on your computer , the best is to buy a new casing and place your old drive in the new casing.

A casing costs about $50 and you could get it at most tech shops and big chain stores like Best Buy.

I hope this solves your problem and please reply if you need more help.

Kind Regards

Converting to a pc

This machine was never intended to be a PC. It does not have any standard PCI slots, only PCI-X slots. You can get PCI-X sound cards but these will be expensive if you are able to find then. You can try to search to buy PCI-X sound cards in google.

My Iomega Network Hard Drive has a Problem

Reinstalled your network? I'll bet your network setting change gave your computer a new system identifier... and that the Iomega has data encryption set up to prevent anyone other than the original computer name from reading the data. What it sounds like is that when you are trying to connect to it, the Iomega is telling you that you can create a new 7Mb LUN, which is probably allocated as overhead space. Can you connect directly to the Iomega and turn off LUN security and data encryption? I'm not certain how the LUNs are created on this unit or if additional data encryption software was used, but it could be that the LUNs are set up with encryption as well. If the data encryption has it locked down to only present to the original device key, you may have no other choice but to blow away your data and start fresh. If this network hard drive is your only disaster recovery plan, I would suggest that you add a tape device and do an incremental back up this drive daily to a rotating pool of media... and a weekly full backup of everything on your network. A network hard drive is only meant to be a central storage location where multiple hosts can read/write data. The tape backup can then be used to recover your data in case of a disaster... like you've got.
