Turn on a/c and go outside. Listen to the condensing unit for humming from the compressor. If the outdoor fan and compressor wont come on, the capacitor may be bad and they dont have enough torque to start the motors.

AlvinInside unit fan works; outside unit does not come on. Inside unit showed H5 code once. How do I proceed?

H is most likely for heat pump, meaning error 5 on outdoor unit. My guess would be low pressure since your power to the indoor unit most likely comes from the outdoor unit. Check manual for codes or research model number error codes.

How do I get the -- away and get the outdoor temperature to work?

You may have to "reset" it by removing both indoor and outdoor unit batteries, waiting briefly, then reinstalling batteries in the outdoor unit followed by the indoor unit. After awhile, the outdoor unit should begin sending information to the indoor unit.

I have a Honeywell thermostat. The thermostat clicks to turn the air condition on but the outdoor unit does not turn on. The fan clicks on though.

I assume you are referring to the indoor fan coming on. If the fan on the outdoor unit is coming on, and the compressor is not, you have a control problem with the outdoor unit, I recommend calling a service man. Make sure you have power to the outdoor unit. There should be a service disconnect on the outdoor unit, connect and disconnect the power, you should hear a hum when the power comes on, put your ear to the housing of the outdoor unit and you will hear the power come on when it is turned on. If no power, or hum, check your breakers in the house electrical panel, see if any are tripped. Next step call a service tech.

Thermostat set on 78 degrees, house temperature 86 degrees. What is the possible problem?

Does the furnace blower come on? If it does there is something wrong with the outdoor unit. Go outside and see if the unit outside is not running check to make sure the breaker is on and there is power to the outdoor unit. If there is power at the outdoor unit, the capacitor may be bad. Disconnect the power to the outdoor unit and open the electrical panel. there is a round or oval silver cylinder inside. If it is bulged at the top where the wires are connected, that is a true sign of failure. Take it out and take it to your local HVAC wholsaler or contractor and have it replaced. It should be around 30 dollars for it and its a simple and very common problem. If this does not fix it, I would call your local NATE certified technician to come take a look at it.

Rheem, 3.5 ton, heating unit does not come on, main braker is at the on position, air handler comes on, is there a braker in the unit itself?

There is a red reset on the outdoor unit, near where the copper lines connect to it, also there should be fuses in the disconnect box, near the outdoor unit, that the electrician installed.

Kelvinator Highwall Split Model KSE70CRA

The unit is tripping when the outdoor unit tries to come on. This could be two things, first change the capacitor on the outdoor unit by removing the top cover of the outdoor unit. If this does not solve the problem, your compressor could be faulty

Panasonic cs-pw9gke i need wiring diagram

Split A/C-Cold:

You need four wires(two #10 and two #12) to the outdoor unit, leaving you house, and three wires(#10) coming from the breaker to tye indoor unit inside your house.

Split A/C-Cold and Hot:

You need five wires(two #10 and three #12) to the outdoor unit, leaving your house, and thee wires(#10) coming from the breaker to your indoor unit inside your house.

This ypical arrangment(all of them use three wires fro the breaker), yet there are other units which may require 6-7 wires connected to the the outdoor unit depends on the added features to the unit.
