We also bought a universal remote to program a Curtis Mathis TV. We found the code by using the code search method. It works everything but the channel program feature. Does anyone know how to access that? BTW the remote is a GE 24921. Thanks

SOURCE: I have a curtis television
A slightly better description of the problem would have helped, so I'm having to guess a little here. I suspect that you are trying to play a DVD without switching the TV to DVD mode first. You have to put the TV in DVD mode in order to play a disc.
To switch to DVD mode
1. Switch the TV on.
2. Press the TV/VIDEO button on the Curtis remote repeatedly until DVD is displayed in the corner of the screen **
3. Insert a DVD
4. Press PLAY
** If a list is displayed (TV, VIDEO, S-VIDEO) when you first press TV/VIDEO, use the UP/DOWN arrow keys (above and below ENTER) to highlight DVD, then press ENTER to select
When you have finished watching a DVD, you need to use the TV/VIDEO button again to return to TV mode. If you are using an antenna connection or a cable line direct to the TV, the correct selection for watching TV is TV.
If you have a cable box or satellite receiver connected by AV cables or another type of cable, you may need to select the VIDEO, S-VIDEO or COMPONENT or even HDMI mode to return to watching TV.
Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question and include full details of the problem.

if its under warranty just return it to the store or to the authorized service center... if not there is some helpful tips to help you.. (1) for continued protection please unplug the unit from the wall socket.. for your own safety please wait for at lease a day to automatically discharged any electrical shocks stored on the unit (for beginners)... (2) remove the protected cover (3) inspect and observe the circuit esp on the power supply circuit. because almost all electronics brand are using the SMPS (switch mode power supply) now. so even the slight changes in resistance on resistor may cause the problem.. but the most common cause of the problem in the SMPS is the filter capacitor. so the easiest way to know that a defective capacitor is by looking by its shape.. esp on a round head shape. you can easily notice it by comparing it to the other shapes... mostly it value about 16 volt 1500 uf or 25 volts 2200 uf. but no matter the value is. just look for the shape and you can notice it what i mean... ty
