The machine have a water leak and the water make an electrical contact so the smoke. You should solve the leak before something will meld from the electrical short heating produced.

Can calcium deposit on the heat element cause the unit to smoke and smell like an electrical fire? And how can. I fix this?

It could be.... It could also be something plastic that got onto the element that is melting and smoking. It could also be a connector to the control board that is loose and is over heating. This is more serious. Carefully check the heating element for some foreign plastic part that is pressing up against it. If there is nothing, then call a professional to make sure that it's not the controller that is overheating and in danger of catching fire.

Why is the dishwasher smelling like electric burning and smoke coming out of the door vent?

Hi friend, thank you for your post!

I understand that your Frigidaire dishwasher is giving off an electric burning smell and you are seeing smoke coming out of the door vent. It could possibly be an issue with your control panel or door vent, both have electrical components inside of them. Since it could be either one of these underlying issues I would recommend having a technician come out to your home and diagnose and repair the dishwasher. Hope this helps. -Matt

Smoke started to billow out of my husqvarna 6370 today as I was sewing. Is this likely to be a repairable problem; I'd hate to part from this machine.

Unplug the machine. move the hand wheel to make sure it's still free and that you can form a stitch ok.

Smoke can come from a belt or from a dry connection... or from wires. If the machine feels ok... bet on electrical. Open access panels on the bottom or side so you can see the motor and electrical stuff. Look, sniff.. etc to suss out where the smoke came from.

I would not plug it in again you figure out the problem

My double electric wall oven smells like smoke, what can be the problem?

It depends o what kind of smoke. If it is just a burnt food smoke smell there is residue left on the walls that has refused to come off with cleaning and a harder detergent is required, perhaps allowed to soak for a longer time. If it is an electrical smoke smell, there is either a bad connection that is heating up and creating the smell or some wires hare carrying too great a load and are smouldering. Check the first item before looking at the next because that will require you to open the back of the oven to access the wires and contacts.

Excessive smoke comes out from oven when cooking

hmmm sounds a bit strange is there anything at the bottom of your oven that has been spilled on it even on the heating coils? (if electric) (if gas there could be a very serious problem with the oven that needs fixing right away!)

Poping, smoking electric Lasko 5540 heater

It depends on where the smoke is coming from. If it's from the heating elements, it's normal as dust and residue burn off. If it is coming from the control section, it's bad and the heater should not be used.

Washer emitting burning smell and smoke on fast spin

Yes, the heating element is coming on when it shouldn't. A likely cause is the pressure pot (Level sensor sender unit) being blocked with sludge. You'll find this under the machine, either screwed to the RH side of the tub, near to the front of the machine secured by three Philips screws, or attached to the side of the big hose that goes from the tub to the pump, secured by a Jubilee clip, underneath the machine. disconnect the power and remove the pressure pot, in both cases it's a long rigid white plastic tube, from one end of which comes a narrow flexible plastic hose which goes up to the top of the cabinet and is attached to the pressure switch itself. This tube is likely to have a load of muck in it, as its bottom end. Clean this out, and if your element didn't burn out, then everything should now be fine.
