HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.

(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side of the blower housing, or magnetron tube assembly)))

Cook works microwave timer stuck

If by "manual timer" you are referring to a knob that you turn to set the cook time, then you may have a failure of the motor that turns the timing mechanism, or a lack of power to it.

Microwave will light up an looks like it is working but no noise exhuast is not blowing but does not heat food. exhuastfan does work when button is pushed?

Microwaves have a very simple mechanism but with some interesting parts. The most complex part of the microwave is the Magnet-tron. The magnet-tron is the part that does all the job in conjunction with a high voltage transformer. Both of these units would need to work properly for the elements to heat up in the microwave. Now, put a glas of water in the microwave if it does heat up the water to a minimum then the magnet-tron is faulty. If the water does not heat up then the magnet-tron is faulty or the transformer. These are the commune parts in the microwave that fails. There are other peripherals that could be faulty such as the capacitor, the high voltage diode that is connect with the capacitor. Some times the problem is very simple where just a switch is the one not doing it. For example the switch that close the door is not connecting properly also one of the thermostat is open permanently.

My microwave doesn't work, but display works

I would strongly consider replacing the microwave oven, prices have dropped considerably. The problem you are describing is in the keypad controller board.

My maytag microwave doesn't cook and makes this loud noise while it's running. Cannot figure out why?

if the display and time counts down on unt but not heating the food most likely you have a bad magnetron on unit.... the noise you are hearing most likely is the magnetron trying to kick in but the tube is bad... honestly unless you are a servicer or in the field these things often cost almost as much to repair as purchasing a new one... we work on them quite often and after explaining its going to cost around 150.00 to repair the customer usually chooses to buy a new one... good luck to you

Everything seems to work fine until you hit the start button than nothing happens except the timer starts counting down

If everything appears to be working normally, as you say the timer counts down, the light comes on, turntable rotates etc. then the problem will be linked to the magnetron not operating & not heating the food. This could be just a thermal fuse device which may have gone faulty but if it is a magnetron fault then the cost of getting this replaced can be expensive & it might be more economical to buy a new microwave. I would advise taking it to a local repair centre, one which gives free estimates to get a quote on a price.

Q - The microwave display counts down and the inside light is on,  but nothing is heating and the fan is not running.
A - This most commonly is a bad door switch, other possible problems are a faulty relay or solder joint on the power module, but a bad door switch is most common.
Q - My microwave is running and sounds like it is working but will not heat up anything.
A - Many thing can do this but, common things are....loose high voltage wire.....poor solder joint on board.....magnetron.....power relay.....
Q - The microwave makes a loud "hum or buzz" noise but will not heat up the food?
A - 9 times out of 10 this is usually this is a bad magnetron, the other time is sometimes a bad high voltage diode. See components section.

A - YES, the fan cools the magnetron and electronics, take the microwave in for service, most fans are not too expensive to replace.
