If it does, on the name plate it will have a split rating for the btus. one for cooling and one for heating. if there is only one rating i.e. 8000 btus, then it is just for cooling

Hampton Bay Window A/C HBQ051A: What is BTU? And, no, obviously it's not posted on the unit, nor do I have any documentation.

* Normally I would suggest checking your warranty but this is a discontinued A/C unit. May not be worth repairing as there are newer units more power and less electrical usage.

What does the "dry mode" mean in a Hampton Bay air

"dry mode" normally means, to dehumidify only. this will not cool the air nor heat it consistently.

Coil freezes up. is there away to recharge window unit. The unit is heat and ac the unit is a hampton bay Is there a manual that can be down loaded?

Check your filters first and make sure the fan is running. These will cause it to freeze up also. A window unit can be recharged, but depending on what has to be done it can cost as much as a new unit. Check around for prices on service calls.
