So far only option I have found would be purchasing a used one or broken one off sites such as ebay and swapping the part. make sure if it is a broken one the damage is only for a problem like a cracked screen.

Look for bad caps with domed tops as shown in my pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/SCEPTRE/Sceptre%20X7G/
should repalce the caps in a set.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Sceptre Monitor P/N X7G-Komodo II displays for about 1 second at a time, then goes black. When I cycle monitor power, I see a perfect display for 1 second. Does anyone have a recommended solution?

When the backlight does not stay on for more than a second, the problem is usually the backlight power supply board failure. Typical failures are blown capacitors, or transistors. A electronic repair shop should be able to fix it.

leos343872, Black screen type of failure. Is anything still displayed even though screen is black when you hold flashlight 1 inch from lower left corner near start button??? Possible "switch-mode-power-supply" in shutdown mode. Tech or you will need to evaluate further!! I have a bad power supply in mine as well. trick to opening it was popping off the silver caps on the base to remove the base. then using 2 bladed screwdrivers carefully pry the front plastic bezel off the back. there is no glue just locking tabs.

I have a Sceptre X7G Komodo II 17" LCD monitor/built-in speakers

You would need to connect the speakers to your computer. There should be a little jack on the back of the monitor marked audio. This will need to be connected to your soundcard jack for front speakers. Once this cable is connected you should have sound from your speakers. Hope this helps.

Sceptre X7G-Naga VI

My problem sounds equivelant: The problem is that it will power down after 15 minutes, then take 1/2 hour or more to power back up!I believe I have solved my problem with my X7G! I remember seeing a direction on the only direction papaer I got with it that told me to Turn off ALL POWER SAVING WINDOWS SETTINGS! I think the monitor is set to care for all the monitor/power saving itself. I am going to try it and will get back to you, or just try it yourselfs!
