2GB SD card no recognized

I purchased a 2GB SD card and it's not recognized in the SD slot in the Compaq nx5000 laptop. It will recognize a 1GB SD card. I have tried to locate updated drivers and have updated my Windows XP OS.

Re: 2GB SD card no recognized

I have only one card reader. Will see if I can find a way to connect my GPS with the SD card in it to the PC.
Otherwise I guess I need to .. buy a new card.

What do you mean by formatting the SD card. I copy a file on it from Windows explorer (copy/paste) without doing anything to the card? If I buy a new card, should I format it first? How?

Since the system does not recognize the card I cannot do anything to it.

Re: 2GB SD card no recognized

Sir probably your 2gb is dead or not factory formatted... just take your receipts and take that back to where you bought it... if it is formatted probably its the same problems of those who formatted their SD with windows xp... that worsen your problem cause i think you just void the warranty of your SD card... try your SD to other card readers and if something pops like "your drive is not formatted... format i now... just click no"

Its not recognizing my sd card reader

Make sure you can see the Secure Digital host controller and
Texas Instruments PCI GemCore based smartcard controller in the Device Manager. If its missing, re-download the drives from HP.

If you are trying to use a SDHC Memory Card in the reader,
you will need updated Win XP TI drivers as the ones on the HP site
do not support the newer memory cards.

This goes for the nx5000's nx6110's nc6120's and nc6320's.
Updated XP TI drivers are needed

Compaq 6910p Notebook does not recognize a SD-MMC memory card when inserted into the slot. The memory card is fine, as I can access it using a USB card reader, but it is not recogized in the Notebook's...

If the memory card is recognized and readable in a USB card reader, the memory card is fine. If the 6910 does not recognize the memory card, either the card is not properly seated in the 6910 card reader slot, the card slot is not connected to the main board of the 6910 or you need a DIFFERENT device driver for the 6910.

It does not recognize an 8gb sd card in storage expansion.

Your netbook should read SDHC(over 2 GB capacity) memory cards. The problem might be either the card slot driver, Which you should download if a newer one is available. Or in case you format the SD as DOS then it will only have around 2GB of space, You should format it as DOS32 or NTFS so you get the full capacity for the SD card. Some pirated rather cheaper memory cards have a lower actual capacity. With some compression technique the capacity presented is higher than it actually is. If you format it then it will show the real capacity. hope that is not the case!

Good Luck!

SD Slot doesn't work

If the SD card is a high capacity card (SDHC) the SD slot may not be capable of recognizing it. Suggest to try another SD card. If that still doesn't work find the drivers on your laptop manufacturers website.
