WX cc Sangean radio cuts out

It cuts out after a couple of minutes. We took the batteries out and they are now we want to put a power cord on it instead of using batteries. Our concern is that it has no transformer on the it safe to use or is there a built in transformer in the radio itself.

Re: WX cc Sangean radio cuts out

The ATS-818 needs a transformer. The transformer converts AC power to the DC used by the radio, so no. You need the transformer.

Radio doesn't work on batteries

same problem here, but with my radio shack scanner. When I disconnect the cord, however, the low battery indicator symbol comes on for a bit so radio seems to be taking in juice. May try a better brand of battery or some rechargeables.

Sangean ATS 803A

Don't be mis-led by the working display. I had the "no power" problem with a working display too. I measured the voltage of the two AA batteries. One was 1.33 volts and the other was only 0.76 volts. Replaced the weak AA and everything worked. I suspect the 'enable' circuitry fails around/below 2.1v.

LCD display has gradually disappeared, now I have nothing. I have had this problem with other sangean products. Is there something that can be repaired? If so where can I send it for repair? Please...

This is a defect in the radio. Reportedly this issue was resolved in later vamps of production, but it still seemed to persist. We discontinued this model due to this exact reason. At this time there is no other solution and the factory can not tell us what the problem was and simply pointed to the LCD.

Remove the battery compartment door and the batteries. There should be a small hole marked "reset" under the upper battery cradle. Press (gently...until it clicks) and hold for 5 seconds. Replace batteries and try again.

ATS 505 Power Supply Problem

Make sure no other buttons are held down when powering up, although you usually see a clock on the display if there is power but the unit is locked up for another reason. The fact that you've tried batteries and you've tried the PSU suggests to me that there is some other problem with the radio, it could be as simple as a dry joint, but without experiencing the same problem myself it's not possible to suggest anything further.
