Hi,

There could be many things that could stop the board from turning on, Determining if it works is like detective work. What I do, is take everything off the board to start. Then add the minimum to start a board to see if it will start. That's one drive (cd or otherwise) the CPU, and one bank of memory. (that's not a required eliminate, but it helps avoid beep codes) Also, make sure you have your pin's set on the board absolutely correct, or that could be your problem to begin with. Also, if your going to load a ide drive, make sure you set your pin setting correctly on it. Now, you should get the power supply on, and the cpu. If those don't power up, it's then either one of the five elements. The CPU, Power supply, Ram, Drive, or the motherboard. The next step is to replace each one of the first four to see if you get any change. If no change, then I usually get another board that I can test the first four, and make sure that they work. After that, then I say you have a DOA Board

Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating.
Thanks
Mark

I have the same problem with my nb205. you might want to look at this toshiba forum. it's a saga, and the (spoiler alert!) ending is the final post, which requires sending back for repair--provided you're not outside the 1 yr. warranty. the descriptions on the page describe my problem to a tee. since you didn't give much detail, not sure what you see or don't (e.g. I have power on light, but black/blank screen, and a hdd light which stays on only for first 2 seconds, max), but you may want to give this info a look.

Nb 205 blank screen

Is your screen blank when you are trying to turn it on? Do the fans run and such but nothing shows up? If not then I don't know.. but if it is put you laptop in the freezer for an hour. Mine had that problem, but you won't be able to turn it off... ever again... because then it won't start up again. I would suggest to check this out as well if it is that problem. http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f108/toshiba-nb200-wont-boot-492391.html

My Toshiba NB205-N311/w will no longer connect to the internet. I have tried the Function F8F8 to ensure the wireless is on but nothing happens. The green bars all say I'm connected to my wireless network,...

Go to TOOLS-INTERNET OPTIONS. Go to the CONNECTIONS tab at the top. Go to the bottom where it says LAN SETTINGS. Make sure only AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS IS checked and nothing else.

USB ports stop working

All of them? That is weird. You can try uninstalling the USB Root Hub devices in the device manager and see if they work when they get reinstalled (happens automatically).

I've installed a couple of programs and get a "regedit" error to "update". How do I update the regedit?

Hello,my friend regedit is system registry editor. The message you received says that your program was unable to be installed because regedit failed to update (manipulate/edit) the system registry. So find out which program u have installed is not working properly, uninstalled it and the next time you want to install it try right click and run as administrator.

RecoveryDisk Creator does not offer any disk selections to create

To access the recovery partition you need to boot up on a DVD with a partition manager on it, then set the hidden partition as "ACTIVE" and un-Active, the existing partition, then remove DVD and reboot, then the laptop will boot from the recovery partition and should autorun start the recovery procedure.
