It might be that it cannot read it because the reading scannre is being blocked by dust,or god so help you,a smudge. If so do not try to do this yourself, you could automaticly kill the consols reading ability if you do.Go to a perfessional, and ask them if you could have the reading lense cleaned. It also might be that you have the 3/4 ring of death. This infamous ring appears around the x-boxs logo,in read lights. This problem can be fixed but costs more money than buying the system costs.Ergo,if that happens, just buy a new system.I hope it helped.

Any solutions ? >> my Xbox is reading the games as DVD Film ...?

Without opening your console up eject the disk tray and blow in it to remove any dust on the laser lens.
If that doesnt work, then im afraid you would need to open up console, and open up the disk drive and clean laser with some rubbing achol.
An update would not cause your xbox to not work...

Can not finalize disk

I have had loads of people ask me this question in just 2 weeks, so it often does happen okay?
Anyway you should not have to do a finalize on the disk, because when you stop filming, the camera reads it's end bit to the DVD auto, then after a few seconds you should be able to open the camera door.

My ps3 will play games but not dvd or blueray, it stopped playing films when we diconnected it to move it to a new t v stand

Hi,

This is a very common problem with the PS3 and is caused by a problem with the laser on the Bluray drive which is malfunctioning and can no longer 'see' or read the game disk properly.

The PS3 uses a dual laser system. This consists of either a dual refractor type lens or two entirely seperate lenses depending on which pickup is fitted to your particular system. One laser is for reading ordinary DVD disks and PS2 disks and the other for Bluray and PS3 games.

This explains the problem you are having with different disks where some types are read and others are not.

The symptoms you describe are quite typical of a failure of one or both of these lasers.

For more information on how to resolve the problem please have a look at this FixYa Tip on the subject.

Many thanks for using FixYa

When i put a dvd in the player makes noise and screen says no disk or unable to read

Sounds like the mounting spindle is out of alignment, meaning the disks you load into the player are not spinning in a balanced, stable position. Without this being the case the laser pickup will not be able to read the disk and the unbalanced disk will cause a noisy hum and you may even be able to feel vibration in the player itself to confirm this. Sometimes the noise and vibration is a disks fault but if it occurs on any disk you insert (and can confirm the same disks work ok with no noise in other DVD players) it will be the players mounting mechanisim that is not playing the game properly I suspect.

Disney princess playstation 2 - game will not load at all

swkw7676,

Sounds like you need to purchase a DVD cleaner and use it.

Once you have cleaned the drive try running a game. If that game runs, your DVD player is working properly.

Try using Disney Princess again. If it still does not work, the issue lies with the disk itself.

To be on the safe side you should clean the disk.

To clean a disk properly you need:

1.) Rubbing alcohol (NEVER use Windex or similar cleaners)
2.) 100% pure cotton cloth.

I hope this helps.

Disc Unreadable

Hi,
simple format compatability issue.
you either don,t have the software on your computer.
Or the disks are unfinished or unfinalised, which means that there are no table-of-contents ( directory structure ) for windows to be able to understand the disks format.
Mike @ Compurepair.
Also the drive ( CD/DVD Rom ) may not be compatable with these disks. check your software read/write program, to see if the disks are supported.

My PS2 does not read game DVDs but plays DVD films

You may need to clean and readjust the laser, which is painstakingly long and hard. As there are like 7 or 8 different version numbers of the PS2 each one has a slightly different internal configuration, guides can easily be found by typing in "PS2 Disk Read Error" on a search engine like www.google.com

Sorry I couldn't help you more, I tried to fix my own PS2 about a year ago and ruined the motor drive for the tray, so will not touch or condone such unless your pretty good with small parts and electronics.
